I am almost certain that it will cause a problem. You'd be better served using a co-sponsor. If they think, based on your documentation, that you are not above the stated poverty guidelines, I doubt they'd look the other way and issue a Visa anyway.

I agree with Joey,

Get a co sponsor, I believe that you are supposed to be 125% over the poverty level, not just a bit over.

Can you scrape up the $300 in assets eg, personal property as someone else suggested? I think they will be strict about this.

I could be mistaken but I think the value of assets are divided by 5 for a spread of 5 years

so the actual asset value would have to be $1500.00

Asset are 3 x not 5............and my vote is for assets

But you're better being safe than sorry.

I can't imagine how you and your fiance would feel if she was at the interview and those $300 prevented her from being issued the visa until you had a co-sponsor.
