You have to call NVC. NVC will not contact you..

for Abu Dhabi, it may take 2 to three months before the embassy will send your petitioner the appointment letter..so you just have to be patient to wait..after two months of not receiving the appointment..you can send your inquiry to the embassy..thru the website...it is still early this time for you to worry..you will get the appointment in time once they are already done with your case..

It can take some time for your case to reach the NVC. You can just keep calling to ask if they have received it yet. When they do, you can get your case number from them. They will send you a letter, yes, but that will be well after they have received and sent it onto your consulate. Call them. You do not have to wait for the letter from NVC.

You can only call the NVC. Since this year, DoS no longer gives out information specific to certain visas, such as the K-1 > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/477504-department-of-state-dos-nolonger-taking-inquiry-calls-on-k-1-visas/
