Due to difficulties with the IRS this week (they were having problems with their website), we are still waiting to receive one tax return transcript for one year for one of us. Because our deadline is the 6th, I am probably going to go to the nearby airport post office later tonight, with or without that transcript. I figure even if we get an RFE for that one year, that's better than being past the deadline. With any luck the fax will arrive any minute now, but regardless, here goes.

My question is this, though: she will get a letter stating that she has been extended for a year while they review, right? But that letter won't spontaneously appear. What about the few days between when the deadline has arrived and she gets her letter? She's going to be terribly worried about that; that's the kind of person she is.

12/24/2010 I proposed. She accepted and stayed.

02/25/2011 Married!

03/19/2012 FINALLY submitted the AOS paperwork: I-130, I-485, I-765, etc.

03/23/2012 Received notification that USCIS has received everything.

03/26/2012 Biometrics Appointment Notice: April 23, 2012.

04/02/2012 NOA's received. Now we wait...

04/23/2012 Biometrics completed.

05/18/2012 EAD card mailed but not yet received.

06/06/2012 Rough interview but we think we're approved! Website says i485 status "Card Production".

06/12/2012 We received the "Welcome the United States" letters! Website says Green Card was mailed.

LIMBO: Green card lost in mail. Facing the possibility of paying hundreds in fees and basically repeating the entire process.

All good now! USPS lost it, then found it.

04/24/14 Back to VJ to get help with I-751, Removal of Conditions.

05/31/14 Mailed I-751 finally, with less than a week to deadline!

06/02/14 NOA1 (that was fast!)

Its better to send it with overnight priority mail with tracking # with signature confirmation.

Its expensive, but not more than the worries you will have till you get NOA.

One gets NOA usually within 2-5 days after filing in normal cases.

No; it often takes more. It took us 5 weeks to get NOA1, just like everyone when we filed.

OP: the NOA1 will be backdated to the time they received it. You could try to go get a I-551 stamp, but otherwise, there is nothing you can do. How often does she need to show her Greencard?

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Thanks, all. Thanks especially to the lovely Harpa Timsa, who is apparently often reluctant to come to such a "silly place". :P

My wife worries excessively, to be sure. Sometimes that's an advantage, other times it is exhausting. :P But of course, it's a good balance for me. I must take part of the blame for this final-seconds shot.

I was so tempted to fire that thing off, rather than risk another delay, but I'm so glad I waited. The transcript finally arrived at about 11pm last night, and so I was able to send Priority Express this morning for Monday delivery, 5 days ahead of the deadline.

Based on reports here, and my previous experience, I think it's highly likely to go through. But we'll see.

You did it right and you are in the window, so for immigration you are all set. She might lack documents to show people for a week or two, but does she really show them everyday? :) You're fine. Good luck.
