The Embassy said they received our Packet 3 papers awhile back and then said they have not scheduled the interview yet, but I just checked the CEAC website and it says updated May 28th. Does this mean anything?

My case status says READY and the update date changed from 5/16 to 5/28....so that means they have looked at the case?? I don't understand bc I haven't received any emails or my fiancé either. ...

Maybe they have looked through yr docs, maybe they have scheduled you an interview, every time they "touch" your case, the ceac update changes.

LOL g'day Jamie

I mean to buy tickets to get to the interview as we live in another state and will have to fly from our place to their place

wish I could say it was something exciting like buy tickets for a great concert, or beer and wine and cheese festival LOL

ok, maybe it will be exciting, but the waiting is not.............. LOL

esp...... don't think there is any way faster, oh wait you could get it faster if you were engaged, that is 3 months LOL, once you get married you go in the much longer process which makes so little sense, hmmmm....I wonder if the bridal places have some kind of deal with uncle sam? LOL

we went into thinking it will be 12 months from start to finish, that way if it happened faster we would be surprised, and if longer.......... well those that have that wait could probably answer you better

good luck mate

Oh! I don't have to fly to Egypt to go to the interview. Thank God. Already spending enough money on meeting twice and now him having to fly to America (SOON hopefully!) lol Not to mention adjustment of status cost an arm and a leg lol Exactly why I wanted to do the Fiance Visa, didn't want to have to wait longerrrrrrrrrrrr :D Good luck to you too!

Please be patient. My fiance sent his papers to the Cairo embassy at the beginning of February and the current wait time was five months. (Meaning they were scheduling interviews for cases that had returned the Packet 3 five months before.) That would have put our interview in the middle of Ramadan in July. We were thrilled that it was the end of May instead. Cairo is working hard to catch up and make the wait time shorter, but I doubt the wait time has gone from 3.5 months to ONE month somehow in the last month. You're likely looking at August for your interview unless the embassy continues to work hard to reduce the case load. For your sake, I hope that's true! But it's really best to plan for the worst and live your life... I hate to say that because I know you're in HELL right now with the waiting! Trust me, the wait after he receives his interview date but before the interview will be the hardest days/weeks of your life if you're anything like us!

Also, from my experience, they seem to schedule a whole month at a time. For example, they'll schedule all of July's appointments the last week or so of June. So if you don't hear anything by July 1st, that means you're likely not on the calendar until August at the earliest. That's what I noticed from the VJ timelines. People were only receiving their "packet 4" letters the last week or so of every month and then nothing new until the last week of the next month. Does that make sense? My fiance received his interview letter April 22nd and his interview was May 29th. Hands down the worst five weeks of my life! ;) Please PM me if you want to know any more of my OCD ramblings about the Cairo embassy. I was absolutely going crazy!

It will say READY until after the interview and then it will change only after there is some update. For example, if you are approved, it will continue to say READY until it says ISSUED or ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING or REFUSED. Here is the link of possibilities direct from an embassy website. Also interesting to note that the wording below the status will be different depending on what type of visa it is. My fiance's status says "YOUR VISA IS IN FINAL PROCESSING" below ISSUED because it's technically a non-immigrant visa. But an immigrant visa would say "YOUR VISA HAS BEEN PRINTED."

Isn't it funny how we obsess over every little tiny detail during this process? I thought it would change from FINAL PROCESSING to PRINTED at some point, but then I found that link and realized it's just a different message but means the same thing.

Lizzie thanks for the link......... ah more possibilities LOL

I suppose with all the things we have to do, file, fill out, police checks, ring, don't ring, email, don't email, pay, don't pay yet, tier one, tier two, tier 89, get ready but don't be ready, oh my........ .

can't say have any obsession over any of it other than... it would be nice to have a "consistent general idea" of how it will play out ha LOL, I suppose to if we miss a detail it can mean more delay etc...

5 months, 3 months, 18 months uscis

1 week, 3 weeks, 7 weeks nvc etc.......

it's like going to the airport and going through security, pat down, no pat down, shoes off, shoes on, coat on, not coat allowed, every airport different, every security check different

to think my grandmother just got on a boat and sailed off for America, would sure like to chat with her about this if she were still with us (F)
