Getting married after getting the K1 visa

Hi folks,

So I received my K1 visa:-)

Now I am just making the final preparations before my flight to the US to marry my fiancé.

I'm a bit confused by the requirements in order to get a marriage license in California - can anyone point me in the right direction as to what is needed on our end to get one?

One site says you need to show your green card if not a US citizen - obviously I wont have one of those until after we are married.

Contact the county clerk where you plan to get married. They will tell you their exact requirements. GC is NOT required but is one form of acceptable ID.

You will just need your passport.

"Both parties must appear in person and bring valid picture identification to the County Clerk’s Office to apply for a marriage license in California. Valid picture identification is one that contains a photograph, date of birth, and an issue and expiration date, such as a state issued identification card, drivers license, passport, military identification, etc. Some counties may also require a copy of your birth certificate."

We used her passport to get married one month after my wife arrived, worked fine in O.C.

in Chicago after much debate between employees and supervisors about changed requirements they accepted thai passport as one form of I.D. and the U.S. K-1 visa inside as the second form of I.D.(2 forms required in Chicago,cook county)

Passport - that's what I used here in CA...
