i found it odd that they threw a flash bang or whatever into a house where there was supposedly a meth dealer. wouldn't they assume there was a slight possibility that meth was being made there too?

Not only that if you read the article, the Darn suspect was not even home ? Makes no sense

Seems to me that they knew this character pretty well - not unreasonable to think that they knew he was dealing rather than producing meth.

i don't know why you think they knew him well. i haven't read anything to support that. is that why they carried out a raid at a time when they were sure the suspect would be home?

The police have faults, but they generally don't target homes unless they have substantial proof that that home will contain felons. Whether or not the drug war should be conducted in this fashion is a very worthwhile debate, but to imagine they targeted this home because they thought there might be someone who might possibly have some drug materials is I think a bit far fetched. They would have had a pretty strong case, the fact that the main suspect was not at home at the time of the raid is not without precedent and that too does not mean that the police are incompetent.

From your own link: According to authorities, Thometheva had also been found with illegal weapons, including an AK-47, during previous drug arrests.

And from one of the links in your link: Thometheva, 30, of Cornelia, wasn’t a stranger to them, police say. Terrell said that during a prior arrest on drug charges, investigators discovered Thometheva had weapons, including an AK-47.

So he was a multi arrested felon in possession of weapons

Why was he still on the street

Still No Knock warrants are insane. If you think he might be armed, wait until he is out and take him by surprise. For Christ sake he was not home . We don't know that he ever dealt drugs in that house . Bunch a jacked up wanna be Commando's using a good excuse to play with toys

they didn't know his home situation well enough, considering it was a home raid in the middle of the night.

For Christ's sake, what parent in their right mind would take their kids to an armed drug dealer's house for the night?

Police go after criminals. It's what they do. It's what I want them to do, quite frankly.

So, let's get this straight, the police, who have to undergo training, have to abide by rules, have to answer to the electorate and superiors are a bunch of 'jacked up wanna be commandos...play[ing] with toys' but untrained, armed citizens who have no one to answer to who start gun fights in shopping centers are heroes? Is that only because by good fortune a kid wasn't injured in the shopping center as a result of the stray fire, or some other rationale that you adhere to?

So your ok , if someone says you sold them some dope, the Police kick your door down in the middle of the night and start throwing grenades. What if they get the wrong house.

To that to 92 year old Kathryn Johnston, who the Atlanta PD mowed down in a no knock warrant. Opps our bad .

I don't know in how many different ways I can say this: whatever you think about the action of the police - maybe it was overkill to go in like that, I don't know - it is utterly irresponsible for any parent to take their children to an armed drug dealer's house for the night. Period. For that parent now to sit there and point fingers at the police rather than looking in the f**king mirror is pathetic.
