Petitioner Change of Address Before Montreal Interview

Hi everyone,

FIrst thank you to all that respond to this. I am an American, my fiancee is Canadian. She has her interview at the US Consulate in Montreal on Monday June 2nd. Anyways, we we first filed everything, Packet 3 etc., it had my parents address on everything because that's where I was living. I moved into a new apartment about 3 weeks ago and now have a new address. I put the new address on the forms that we need for the interview (I-134 & I-864) and just figured she would tell them that I moved into a new place. Is that alright, is there anything else that needs to be done prior to that? I may just be paranoid because we are so close to the end of this thing. Any help would be appreciated!

I-864 is for AOS, its not needed for K-1 interview. As long as they have the up to date information, you will be fine. It will be more important for the AOS side of things, since they will need to know where to send the biometrics appointment info and the green card when you get to that stage. At this point in the game, they just want to make sure you and your bride have a place to stay (even if its at your parents) and that you can support her financially.

for a K-1 visa holder - petitioner address not matter at this stage

because

the next thing you two will be filing

is

the Adjustment of Status case paperwork

and

you've an opportunity to put in the updated / changed/ new info there.

query - why is an I-864 to be lobbed into Montreal IV for a K-1 visa interview ?

I'm not sure, it just says to bring it in the list of documents

I-864 is for those that are already married and interviewing at MTL. I-134 is the one for when you are not already married. You'll still get to do the I-864 after you get married.

I changed our address with USCIS and NVC 2 wks ago. I changed it at the Montreal Consulate today during my interview. No problem.

Cool I changed it with NVC and we got approved. Just told the officer about the change of address. Easiest interview ever haha, we couldn't believe how short it was. 5 questions and approved

Congrats! I think we were asked 3 questions, and the last question my wife went on about how we met...the lady looked completely bored out of her mind...lol
