Need advise

Good day to all.

I need advise please. I already have the packets for my children, however, I have never found an interview date for them which makes me frustrated. My problem now is it's school time. If I enroll them this year and they will be able come here, I will pay the tuition fees for the whole year and there are 3 of them. They go to a catholic university and it is quite expensive. I was hoping I can save the money for air fare instead of paying tuition fees which they cant use if they will come here. My other problem is that, what if I cannot find a date for an interview and I wasted their future instead by not enrolling them. I am a confused anxious mother right now. What do you think is best?

Thank you for your insights.

hugs!

Ann

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Most likely the schedules are already filled out. You can check everyday for someone might cancel and a slot will open up.

Regarding the tuition, just ask your children if its okay with them to stop schooling temporarily. Good luck.

As a parent I know how important education is to a child. When I read your plea I had a couple of suggestions for you to think about.

Can you approach the school and let them know about your situation and ask them if you could pay monthly for the duration that they are still in the Philippines.

Next, I would not worry about school here in the USA as they will be tested and placed in the appropriate grade and will offer any additional services (language as one such offer) that will ensure their success in American Schools.

Also, US school years begin in Aug/Sept where as Filipino schools start in May/June, so they will not be behind if you can get them into the US for the start of the school year. My 5th grader is still in school for another 2 weeks and is out for the summer and begins again in middle school in late August.

I think these are options that you may not be considering.

She can pay the tuition in monthly installments but once the kids are ready to leave, she will have to pay the entire balance in full.

We were in the same predicament back in 2011. We were expecting interview in September but since its a bit far ahead we enrolled our 3 kids. They got their visas in October. They left for the US in December so I had to pay the tuition fees in full before Christmas (we were paying monthly installments).

My kids were quickly admitted to school right after Xmas break so in all they attended 12 months of schooling in 2011 (Philippines and US).

Thank you all for your insights.

My hope now is to get slots for interview sometime in August or September. My kids do not want to transfer to a public school where it is cheaper because they reasoned out that they will have to do another adjustments, new uniforms, new friends, etc.... I hope they will release new dates soon. I would really regret it if they cannot come this year. :(

The only dates that will be released will be July and you want August/September so worrying this far ahead is only going to give you undue stress. When Aug is released you will get a slot for your interview. Mom.... relax.... deep breaths. It's all going to work out. 1942.gif
