Hi everyone,

I just got my O1-B visa from the US consulate in Brazil. But I am confused about the expiration date on the visa: it says August 2014, even though my petition expiry date is 2017 (i.e. for 3 years, it also states that on the visa). I have already arrived in the US and have been admitted until 2017. The problem is that I plan to travel outside of the country for performances etc. So what happens if I exit the US in September? Am I going to need to apply for a new visa already to re-enter the US? This would mean I would have to go back to Brazil in 3 months to apply for a visa which sounds unreasonable.

Why would they issue such a short visa for someone who will obviously be traveling in and out of the US as an "extraordinary" performer? Could this short expiration date be a mistake from the consulate? Who should I contact with questions about that, since I am now already in the US?

Thanks for any help,

Leo
