How will that be done? Isn't there a huge chance that the American Embassy in Sweden refuses to interview me in the future? And could you please explain VWP? I'm new to this site so I'm not familiar with the terms =)

I was in a very similar situation many years ago (now I'm a Ph.D. student here again in the U.S.). My SEVIS was terminated, and I had only 5 or so days until I had to leave. I did. I was able to have my SEVIS reinstated. I was still in school then, so I went back to my home country and renewed my F-1 visa with absolutely NO problem. As a Japanese citizen (and probably many other VWP countries), my F-1 is (was) good for 5 years. Once you have a new I-20 reinstated with a different SEVIS number (and pay SEVIS fee), you're good if you're planning to come back to the States.

Immediately after I got my visa and returned to the United States, I was stopped and sent for secondary inspection. They seem to have all the information as to what happened to my SEVIS termination.

If you're not intend to continue your studies (sounds like you're done), then you should have no problem using VWP. The ESTA can tell you whether you can enter the U.S. without a visa.

Oh I see you overstayed already. You'll probably need to get a B-visa then. It's a hard visa to get for visa waiver participating country travelers.
