Has anyone been to an MLS game?

Yes. And it's #######. Americans can't do "soccer" in terms of atmosphere. I went to a Sporting Kansas City game and (there at least) they try and recreate the various famous chants/atmospheres from around Europe.

For example, the "raucous" fans stand in an area they call "The Cauldron" (LOL - off!) from the top of which they hang a banner that boldly states "Welcome To Blue Hell." I'm assuming this is a take on the Galatasary thing which is beyond sad. Oh, and there's the obligatory #### with a drum that every sings along with. Along with a pointless bint that stands down the front of the area and "conducts" the crowd. The lamest chant (their version of "the referee's a wanker"/"you're not fit to referee" etc) goes like this:

"Who's your Daddy, who's your Daddy, who's your Daddy referee, don't got one, never had one, you're a ####### referee" (to the tune of "Oh my darling...")

I literally felt my toes curling.

Americans do a lot of things very well - "soccer" (cringe) isn't one of them. Take in an NFL game if you can. Much, much better stateside experience.

Cringing just reading that. I might go to watch one when I get there just for the sake of it.

Americans have no hope with cricket

Good news is that one of the managers here is a Springbok, so we can both despise the Aussies

Awww don't be mad because we smashed you in the Ashes and made you look like a Sunday park team.

Whilst we're on the topic of football, my band is playing Villa Park this Saturday and I'm really, really nervous... Don't really want to let on to the real world. First and last stadium show maybe, I'll be leaving them behind when my visa comes in. Sad face.

That doesn't look like the right line-up to me, I know Jaws played there last year but I didn't think they were this time around. I'm in Silhouettes.

Didn't take him long to get tired of Spanish football, did it? <_<

I honestly thought he would always struggle to break into Barca's team and start on a regular basis. He should have stayed with us.

Can't blame him for taking the chance to join his boyhood club, tbf. Which is why, whilst absolutely heartbroken about it, I don't begrudge Lambert his move to Liverpool. Pochettino, however, can off and die. Can't wait to hear the reception he gets when he brings Spurs to SMS next season!

I think Chelsea, in Fabregas and Costa, have bought brilliantly thus far. And if Jose finally realizes what he has in Lukaku and brings him back into the fold, then I really can't see anything other than a two horse race for the Premiership title next time round.

Guys, I love football just like the next person but i'm steering this thread back to this lad. Shippingforecast, good luck to you and your show pal - I know its probably a big deal for you as you near departure. Enjoy it, take the memories, and all the best cutting it stateside with your music. Its a tough industry anywhere in the world, but you gotta go for it.

I checked out your website videos - cool stuff and catchy tunes! Well done!

Me personally, i'm emigrating with a decent photography career in London under my belt and headed to Hollywood... land of glitter and the persistent flash bulb... gulp.

He needs to pick up a solid centre back and some more cover for LB, but yes, I agree. And he has paid fairly low for Costa (considering that Cavani went to PSG for £50M!).

I agree with him joining his boyhood club. Disappointed he went to Chelsea, but at least it wasn't United. I have intense for anyone associated with Spurs haha. Did you see David Bentley has retired at the ripe old age of 29?? Made my Friday that news.

Maybe some cover at CB now Luiz has gone (LOL @ PSG paying what they paid for HIM btw!!). Never understood why managers play world class players out of position (i.e. Azpilicueta at LB) either, but hey, I guess Mourinho knows what he's doing. And after Wenger passed on Fabregas I don't really think Gooners can have too many complaints where he ended up. I have to say I was somewhat surprised at that though, because although Arsenal do have an embarrassment of riches in the centre of the park, some of them (i.e. Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wheelchair) are somewhat injury prone. And by "somewhat" I mean they make Darren "Sicknote" Anderton look like a model of good health!

Yes, heard about Bentley - what a waste. The lad had so much talent. I guess he just wasn't prepared to put in the hard work. Maybe. Who knows.
