Hello VJyers.

I am about to file my ROC in the next couple of days and I have a question.

When it comes to bank statements, do I have to send all of the monthly statements since we opened the joint account (29 monthly statements) or can I just send the first month’s statement (Jan 2012) and the last two months statements. Each statement is about 6 – 8 pages, and I’m not sure if it will fit in a regular envelope. Same things with our credit cards statements as well.

Always appreciate your help.

You don't have to send all, every 3 months is okay. Well, 100+ pages you can fit in a flat rate envelope just fine. Good luck.

I sent copies showing every 3-4 months and makde copies double-sided. Other similar recurring paperwork same. It all went in a big envelope

I sent them all. 5 joint accounts in all. Everything labelled and accounted for in a cover letter. My envelope was 2 inches thick. I was approved in just 3 months! :-)

I send only the summary page with our names and account balance. I don't think length matters much because I have a friend that received a request from USCIS demanding him to add his wife's name to his accounts and send in prove before she was approved.

Mike411, thanks for your help.

After going through the Instructions for Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, I noticed that Section 3 has a clause that says "joint savings and checking accounts with transaction history".

The issue with your friend's case might have been that both names were not on the account; therefore, length of any document as a prove of evidence will have less effect.

Here is the complete section 3 of the instructions.

  1. Financial records showing joint ownership of assets and joint responsibility for liabilities, such as joint savings and checking accounts with transaction history, complete joint Federal and State tax returns, insurance policies that show the other spouse as the beneficiary, joint utility bills, or joint installment or other loans, if applicable, submit copies of military Leave and Earnings Statements showing receipt of Basic Allowance for Quarters (BAQ) with family member(s) and/or form DD-1172 for military family member identification card(s);
