Looks like participation in CEHST has dwindled to a slow crawl. Too bad, it used to be a lot of fun posting there. Way to go family friendly!!

I think there's more to it than the family friendly nonsense, although that was the first kick to get it on the downswing. There's a lot of attitude in the upper forums too.

I'll check it out when it opens. I wonder how it compares to Regina?

Not much compares to Reginas that I've ever had, but it will be nice to get another quality pizza place round here. Wifey and I just had regina's last Sat night. We had a prosciutto and red onion pie that was fantabulous!

There's definitely a lot more to it, but I figured I'd just leave it at family friendly. Saying what I really feel will more than likely get me a time out.

Pepe's is regularly voted "Best Pizza" in America. In a fit of hyperbole, the Guardian once called it the best pizza on earth! Personally, I am more of a Modern Apizza fan when it comes to New Haven pizza, but Pepe's is pretty glorious.

Personally, I feel that being a jerkwad in the upper forums should be looked at more seriously than the tomfoolery in the Stagnant Bog aka CEHST. One of the worst is no longer posting frequently there but still.

Or when your GPS tells you to take a left from a quiet side street onto a six- or eight-lane thoroughfare... So you can "save" a minute. >.<

This is why when I'm driving with Mr U I always ask him to tell me as soon as possible what the next turn will be so I can be ready. Even if it's like 2 miles away. :D

I don't want to fall into the "reports too much" category. Membership outside that category has its privileges.

Oh no, it's much more family friendly to ridicule someone in the upper forums looking for information. Gotta judge those losers, insult them and put them in their place!

Hit the 40lb mark today ya losers! Time to break out the mankini!

Killer! I assume the "B" in Teddy B stands for "Borat."

I need to have a moan. Mr U was laid off in March, when his company was shut down after being acquired by AT&T. He has spent a bit of time luxuriating in shiftless worklessness, but it's time to get a J-O-B. He had a great interview on Tuesday with a company that does much of the same sort of thing he has done for the past 8 years. They liked him, he liked them. His recruiter put in a salary bid only a bit over what he had been making before, and the company 1) said nope, we'll give him half of that (which is an insulting offer) and 2) offered him a role far junior than what he had interviewed for, and far junior than he was before being laid off. We agreed he should tell them to stuff it.

What makes me moan is that if he had taken this role we would have been able to finally move in together. We've been together four goddamn years, made the decision a year ago to move in together and still I have to go home every Sunday night. I see him Friday night, Saturday night and all day Sunday until 11 pm or thereabouts. Weeknights we talk on the phone for about 30 mins to an hour. My schedule is such that I cannot spare time during the week to see him, but if we were living together I could see him every night. I'm so effing sick of this situation and I can't make it any better until he has a job, because no landlord will let to us if he is unemployed. We live in the same town and yeah, it's nothing like being half a world away from your beloved, but I feel like some aspects of my life are on hold. I am so ready to be with this person now and it took me SO long to be ready to live with someone I love again.

Someone give me all the cheese because I am having ALL the whine....

Just think of how they'd have treated him after he became an employee. You might be coming home every night to an abjectly miserable Significant Other.

You did right, and you can hold your heads up. The employment situation will work itself out eventually (keep the faith). More important is that he has retained his dignity.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Thanks, T. It's a bit of an overall sucky situation. He's got quite a bit in savings, so he's not desperate and we are lucky for that. He and I have been kicking around an idea for a startup for a while, and this may be the opportunity to get it off the ground. :)

Maves, can you rent a place without putting Mr. U on the lease? That way his employment status isn't an issue.

Alas, I need his $$$$ in order to get a place of the size we actually need. I can't swing it on my own. When he's employed, he makes twice what I currently do.

Good thinking -- go for it! This option is a boon that few others might have, which is an additional reason to proceed.
