Unfortunately there aren't many in this area. And the ones that do exist pay like #######. There's probably some decent ones in the Nashville area though which is about 45 minutes to and hour south of here. I hear there's lots of tech jobs in Atlanta.

Thanks for the info. Kentucky is not suitable for me then.... :content:

My hubs wants to move somewhere with good weather, of course with good job opportunities too.

Done with K1, AOS and ROC

For real, check out Atlanta. Nice climate, large city, lots of IT jobs and a pretty good selection of Asian groceries. We visited Mega Mart (Korean-Link below) and it was pretty nice. There was another one more centered on Chinese that was pretty awesome too. Best Asian grocery shopping I've seen outside of Toronto. Actually there were a few others that we didn't make it to but we will over memorial day weekend when we go again.

This weekend has been a VJpalooza! I managed to hang out with Trompe le Monde and ginger1981 on Friday night -- girls' night out in Venice, with many beers and some great Italian food down right by the beach. Then today I had brunch with Trompe (again), the_dude, Staashi and my Mr U at a fantastic Jewish deli in West Hollywood. I am the only one left of the aforesaid VJers to still be on here.

Its a shame these people are no longer here. You should invite the ones allowed back to chime in from time to time.

Any lakes in that area G? We would like to be either on, or very close to a body of water

Sounds like fun Maves. I wish I was around VJ a bit sooner to share in some of the fun Trompe used to have with our cabbie friend. Is the_dude the guy who was having major problems with the wait times for his wife's IR/CR-1?

To be clear, the_dude is the one formerly known as Rob and Mel. Not thedude6752000. That guy seemed a little... emotional to me. I have heard through the VJ grapevine that thedude6752000 abandoned his CR-1 petition and got divorced.

On the other hand, the "the_dude" I hung out with was the old P&R troublemaker Rob, who liked to argue with Booyah and Paul (of Paul and Vanessa).

I mentioned it to them, and I think everybody's pretty over it -- all their visa journeys are over due to citizenship or divorce, so there you go. And there's a general feeling that a lot of the fun we used to have is gone, to be replaced by non-stop bickering about Muslims and black people. Where are the MENA mean girls? Where are the PI forum freakouts based on age differences? Nobody really hates on the CABAs too much any longer. And all of that pretty much sums up how I feel too, these days. :( CE&HST is boring and predictable, and I'm too busy to go digging around for anything that might be outside the formula AND gain traction. :-/

the_dude came out? really ? reading his stuff here, he seemed glued to a monitor during non-work time.

kudos on getting him to come out and see humans, irl, face to face. you Rock, O Mavenz !

See above -- it was Rob (aka "the_dude"), not the other one.

That's all true. Word on the street is it's ALL my fault.

Thanks for clearing that up. Yes thedude6752000 was an emotional wreck, I didn't want to say anything in case you two were friends. I think a divorce was imminent in his case either way. Anyway, glad you had fun!

aha. OK la. well, I swear, I remember seeing something from him last quarter,

but as to the other fella I mentioned (Not Rob) - something exceptionally strange on him.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Agreed on that -- there was a level of intensity and fury that was really above and beyond the levels usually present here.

My hubs wants to move somewhere with good weather, of course with good job opportunities too.

there's a nuclear research facility in eastern kentucky - keep that in mind as you engage the google for more research.

and of course, in London KY there's a huge USCIS place - you can get on there, as well. It's a huge archival data storage data center.

are you doing real research , or no ?

[Moderator hat on]

One post removed from thread and returned to thread, as edited below:

I get tired of reading post after post about how unfair the wait times are and watching these people go at each other simply because someone from a different country got a faster processing time. Marry an American if you don't want to wait. Or marry a Canadian or someone from a VWP country if you want to wait less, but quityerbitchin!

A couple of other posts have been removed for transporting drama from other threads. One such post warrants further administrative action, but punches pulled. C'mon, folks.

[Moderator hat off]

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

It was fun when he and I would gang up on Booyah!

Don't go there. You'll be listening to banjo music and squealing like a pig in no time.

That's what I do on Saturday nights, won't be much of an adjustment at all.
