Heap Strong Medicine -- I like aspirin or 800-mg Motrin. And stiff drinks dull the memory of stiff winds.

Were the news reports accurate that it was chiefly powdery, vs. wet? Neither is desirable, but one is easier to clear from shed doors than the other.

Hate to mention that it was 80 F. here yesterday, with Chamber of Commerce weather to continue until Saturday. The neighbor's monster oak tree, which had been toying with us to this point, has finally cut loose. (Leaf me alone, please.)

Yes it was mostly soft powder, it was in the teens and low 20's for most of the most the storm.

I have been battling Rheumatoid Arthritis for about 20 years now, the only upside to it is that I have a never ending supply of Vicodin. Comes in really handy on days like today.

waiting a couple of days for a flight is nothing compared to people who lost power and are having to shovel their ways out of their homes.

True, si man.

This reminds me of when I lived in the DC area in the '80s and was trying to catch a Wednesday pre-Thanksgiving flight to the Midwest. It snowed some that day. My taxi driver was a recent immigrant from Nigeria who had never seen snow. I missed the original flight by 5 minutes, and it took most of the day to overcome it.

Papa T-B. ended up making FOUR 50-mile round-trips to the airport that day, learning on the first three that I wasn't there. When I finally arrived, all that he said was, "It's good to see you, son." He never uttered a word of frustration or complaint.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

Yes, the Mrs and I both had the eyebrow icicles going on yesterday all the while sweating underneath.

The RA can be tough at times but with the proper meds and exercise I usually do ok.

The better for giving each other icy gazes, certainly.

Understood completely. No RA here, but ongoing muscular/joint issues confer nearly continuous grief. Hang in there.

How did we survive without cell phones? I sometimes watch old movies and realize some of the plots would never work if set in our present. I remember going to the airport and running from gate to gate waiting for my parents to show up...

Vertigo could never be if there were cell phones back then..

Considering my wife's complete spatial unawareness regarding her cell phone, we're pretty much still operating in a pre-cell world. Dying on the side of the road? Better call anyone else if you expect an answer.

Not too much Teddo. We had a small dusting of snow here Monday night. But it didn't stick to the salted roads. I even went for a run in the snow after work. It was really pretty. It was just around 32 so it wasn't too cold.

Good to hear you're still running. I used to enjoy running in the winter when I was younger. Wifey and I just purchased a Nordic Track GX5.0 Recumbent bike with the hopes of getting some good exercise with low impact on the joints. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

At the risk of you all hating me even more than you did before, it is 75F here today, slightly overcast. Closer to 80F yesterday. Every time I feel the pull back to the motherland, I stop and remember this.

Oh mave-o. One does not need to waste a perfectly good glass of red-goodness to come to this conclusion. But I am glad you got to throw the ol'feet up on the desk so to speak.

Naw, I was drinking and then, channelling another VJ poster, I decided to post while a little tipsy. Shoulda stuck to YouTube videos.
