Yeah being a mod sucks. I used to be a mod and an Admin on two other boards that are now defunct, I'd much rather just be a nobody poster, much more fun that way. I'm pulling the snowblower out this weekend to make sure it's ready to go when the snow flies. We just had our first Nor'easter of the season, luckily it's still Oct and it was all rain. We've been getting dumped on for 3 days now. I was looking at some lakefront properties in Kentucky on-line the other day as a possible retirement home for wifey and I.

Come on down teddo!

Thanks for that link G!

Something like this would be right up my alley. I can't believe how cheap it is. This house would be $450-$500K up here., Only asking $215K.

Are you attending Rice? What courses? Is wifey shacking up in the rv wit you?

It looks that way. It always sux to lose good folks. She was a major contributor here. Hopefully she'll find her way back.

Barren river lake is about 20/30 minutes away from Bowling Green. You can get a lot for your money. And Bowling Green is nice little burg if you ask me. Lots of growing going on.

We're still about 15 years out from retirement, but we're thinking of purchasing a retirement home sooner than later, maybe 3 or 4 years. We both like Kentucky and Tennessee. Both states will work nicely for traveling up to Windsor, Ont as well.

Mr U and I wish we could get out of here and afford to buy a place, or even better, some land to build on. He has grand plans for something Usonian in feel or a blinged out container home. And while land is cheap out in the desert, I do not want to live there. Land is also a steal in the Hollywood Hills (comparatively speaking), but there's a moratorium on all new building there that's been in place for a while. Meanwhile our shacking up plans are on hold until his work situation is made clearer -- the buyout is almost complete, and everyone is being laid off around Xmas. Yay! So until we know where he's working (LA? SF?) we can't do anything. We decided FINALLY this past April to move in together, but that looks unlikely until February or so. I just feel like my life is on hold until we know timing. It's almost like... being in the visa process again. :P

What spurred that on?

It's always been our plan.

Step 1. Pay several thousand dollars on a GC so she can live in the US for 3 or 4 years.

Step 2. Move to China for 5 or 6 years

Step 3. Pay several thousand dollars on a GC so she can live in the US for 3 or 4 years.

Step 4. Wash, rinse and repeat.

Actually I'm really looking forward to it and have been for a while. I'm resigning from my company and starting my own. It's gonna be a whole new world!

Good for you and the Mrs. I wish you luck in your new venture. What type of business?

On a side note, G will be heartbroken that his main squeeze is up and leaving.

That's funny, when I was reading the life on hold part, the visa process is exactly what I thought about. Sigh, maybe we won't have to wait for stuff when we're dead at least.
