HEY LOSERS!!!

It's been a whole month since last we posted. What's shaking in the world of rumpswabbery? On this end, Mr U was diagnosed with shingles yesterday. :( Apparently it was triggered by heat and stress, and he is pretty miserable. He's been ordered to stay away from the office for two weeks, which he says is not a terrible punishment as it will allow him to watch Constantine, Hot Fuzz, Beerfest, Idiocracy, The Last Boy Scout, Rushmore and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang on a near-continuous loop from his couch.

Isn't that what everyone does in August?

The humidity is killing me.

I make a point of getting shingles EVeRY August!!!!!!!

Shingles are terrible Maves, hopefully Mr U won't have them for long.

Gonna be 96° and humid here today with a heat index of 101°

Not much going on here, just enjoying the dog days of summah! Went to Gloucester for the day a couple weeks ago and filled up on fried clams and lobstah rolls. We finally got some rain here yesterday, it had been over a month since our last significant rainfall. I've got some work to do on the house but that's never ending. Oh and beer, lots of beer!

That's hypnotising.

I wish I had a nice lobstah roll. The ones out here are 1) disappointing; 2) expensive; or 3) disappointing and expensive.

We are having amazing weather -- the past week temps have been between 75-80F. Hazy mornings give way to beautiful sunshine, and overnight lows are about 60ish. Couldn't ask for better weather. I'm sure this means we will have a brutally hot September though. :-/

Howdy losers! Are we all stoked for the debate?

Also this has been stuck in my mind on repeat for a week:

I was trying to figure out when the debate was and I stumbled upon CBSN online and saw that old CBS guy (Bob Schaeffer?) lay into the Attorney General from Arkansas. It was amazing. She was trying to say that no one cared about Trump's tax returns and he explained to her the difference between polls, anecdotes, and opinions. Her disingenuous rationale was because people she asked didn't care (to which he replied something like, "the people I ask do care, so our experiences must be equally valid or neither are valid"). Love ya dude!

Love that song. Another good one from Sweet is "Love Is Like Oxygen".

I am also a master of the "long hair, don't care" hair flip, but nowhere near as good as Her Imperial Highness the Killbot3000 when her tresses were long and majestic.

I liked her hair long; she looked more like a person and less like Killbot3000 in a helmet.

Sup dudes/dudettes? Hope everyone is good.

Just an update, D is almost 6 months pregnant and doing well. The fetus name has officially been dubbed "Morty" due to our love of the show "Rick and Morty" I guess when he's born we'll have to give him a more current name.

I broke my foot playing racquetball about a month and a half ago. Was able to start walking in shoes this week so I'm nearly functional again, albeit with a bit of a limp. Maybe can start running again in another 6 weeks or so.

Thanks for your update! Wish you all the best for smooth pregnancy/delivery.

Congrats, G.!

But he should be named "Cletus the Fetus."

Good to hear that the shoe is on the other foot, and that you have at least one leg left to stand on.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Glad to hear the pregnancy is going well G. Morty should be posting on VJ by next Spring. Good thing too, we could use the uptick in common sense round here with all this Trump craziness.

That stinks about the foot and I feel your pain. About 25 years ago I rolled my ankle also playing racquetball and it caused a hairline fracture in the bottom of my fibula. The pain was excruciating. My ankle turned some interesting deep shades of black & blue and swelled up to the size of a grapefruit. Glad to hear you're up and around again.

Good news, G!

It's funny how everyone has a nickname for the baby before it's born. We called ours Skeletor because we had a scan right around when the bones ossified. Tiny alien skull, staring at us through its eye sockets.
