The proof is in the pudding. We may have some flaws in the immigration system in the US, but the processing of K1 petitions simply isn't one of them.

The old cliche "careful what you wish for" applies here. A major overhaul of this "horribly flawed" system would likely lead to the elimination of the K1 visa altogether. Think about it, a couple can "meet" online, have ONE face to face meeting and then immigrate to the US. It's like hanging a sign on the door that says "If you want to commit immigration fraud, try here first".

The problems with the US immigration system relate to the immigrant work force and what should be our best friends to the South. The cries of young lovers that just can't bear to be apart for a few more months will only lead to a much more cumbersome fiance immigration process.

Well, are there 100,000 people out there that might possibly care? Technically, no. As of March 2014 there are 14,700 I-129F petitions waiting to be processed. If each and every filer signs and gets 5 of their family members and/or friends to sign, they still wouldn't reach 100,000 signatures. This petition was dead before it was even born. An NOA2 taking 6 or 7 months from TSC doesn't warrant a White House petition nor does it make the system "horribly flawed", "inefficient" is probably the best way to describe it. Processing time fluctuates depending on the volume of applications and whatever form has the highest priority at the moment, waiting time goes up and down in waves. It also depends on the amount of staff. I'm not saying I like any of this and I definitely DO give a damn about the discrepancy, knowing all this information I signed the petition anyway. I also contacted both of my U.S. Senators. In the grand scheme of things the volume of petitions between service centers isn't an important issue. TSC will bounce back eventually.

Patience has always been one of my weak qualities but I must say this journey has taught me how to be a more patient person. Thank you for this post it has answered what I have been trying to tell myself today which has not been a good day
