Tsk tsk. lol. You make it sound like those of us who have already traveled down this road were mere sheep, patiently waiting. Delighted to wait, happy to be stuck in AP at NVC, unable to plan the rest of our lives. Your lack of respect for people who have been through the mill, understand the system, and it's limitations, is embarrassing. For you.

Well said and its the members on here who have been through this system already I take more notice of

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

Well, if you don't believe the petition is worthy of your time, no one is forcing you to sign it. People who are signing it are doing it because they in their wisdom, think it's the right thing to do.

If you think it's such a useless idea, why not just have a chuckle privately and let people do what they are doing? And refrain from giving out unsolicited and dispiriting advice?

Newp, nobody is forcing me to sign a darned thing. And, I'm not. Once people who have been a round the block a time or two, and have a little wisdom about the process, I'll take note of what it is they say.

Knock your socks off people. Petition away.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Wow, I am really glad that I missed most of this conversation. I don't think that insulting and dismissing the concerns of others is particularly mature or constructive behavior from our "veterans". If you're not interested in the opinions of others, then don't read them. There's no need to be obnoxious about it. Maybe you could go knock an ice cream cone out of a child's hands instead. You know who you are.

The "it's always been this way and you shouldn't expect anything better" attitude leads directly to this apathetic and inefficient system. I don't think it's radical to suggest that the USCIS could distribute based on case load and process ALL applications in the order received, regardless of the form-type or residence of the applicants. That just seems fair - we all get in line and wait together.

I don't expect that we will get the 100k needed for the White House to review the petition. That's not really the point. The point is to give those of us who are not resigned and apathetic a tool to demonstrate a level of interest/concern to our representatives.

I know that my partner and I have a long way to go and that none of this will (probably) help us. I know that couples from CA who aren't even engaged yet will get processed before we do. I'm doing this to try and make things fairer in the future.

Thanks to the 57 who have signed on to the petition so far. And thanks to everyone who will sign in the future.

If you have constructive or positive ideas, please pm me. I'm leaving this thread to the resigned and bitter.

I'm still in the process, probably going a year without my wife before the process is over. I'm also not apathetic. I simply don't believe that there is much of a problem that I would want my government putting resources into. I think 5-9 months of waiting to bring your foreign fiance to America is a reasonable wait. Sure, I think that USCIS could be more organized and take advantage of technology but all the petitions in the world simply aren't going to spur that change. I sure don't want my federal gov't putting time or resources into helping anyone bringing their fiance here any faster because they just can't bear to be apart for a few months. The fact that we have a way to bring someone over in a year or less (ish) based on love alone is proof enough that the system is working just fine.

Just my two cents since everyone that didn't agree is getting accused of being an apathetic veteran. :)

All that being said, if anyone feels passionately that their fiance should be able to stroll on in on a whim, then by all means, tackle that issue head on.

I am the USC Petitioner. My wonderful wife Laura is from Scotland.

Really ?! you just got the Noa1 and you start this? hahahah, idk maybe its a good ideea for future, but not the close future. My advice, take a sit and relax, and wait, you cant do nothing! I saw people here waiting from almost 1 year and they didnt start nothing. You just need to calm down. For example my case, from January 15th I didnt hear nothing about my case, and in 1 week will be 5 months !!! So again, Relax, and wait. What you do its just to waist your time.

To be fair, I don't think the OP is complaining about their personal wait time, but pointing out that the discrepancy between service centers should be handled differently. Unfortunately, this is out of gov't control and not something that a petition will even bring attention to. Actually, the best course of action if someone really wanted to make a difference would be to get a job with USCIS, work their way through the ranks into upper management and then implement their ideas. They might find that there are more challenges then most visa seekers assume there to be.

Moving? Im in CT and was transferred to csc. Move and they'd probably go back to some weird transferring system again. Point is...they can and will do what they want. We've waited soooo much longer. Of course its not fair. But the veterans are correct whether you want to like it or agree. I waited 7 months JUST to approval...im still at nvc with a pd of 8/2 and an 8 week old baby. So pardon if Im not feeling a wait time movement. We all knew what we were getting into and anyone that didn't, all you had to do was a search on Google. The stories of VJ alone come up for at least the first 7 Responses to your search.

While im not a "veteran", and I might get modded for this, I've been here and through more emotions than I knew I had long enough to know better than to sugar coat anything. So CDNEH save me a scoop, cuz I'm still running through the mill you speak of which is much easier now that I've given birth...ALONE. .. withOUT my HUSBAND.

Good luck however. I'll bite and share it for you. Just dont walk around with a wool mask.
