Hi guys, I have a same question, My mother GC holder applied for my brother in Aug2012 for F2B over 21 and his cas has been approved from uscis on Dec. 23, 2014 and sitting on NVC. NVC sent us a letter that we will contact you when visa number will be available...How long it could take and I know he can't marry during that process and my mother wants him to marry. My mom is GC holder I think if he marry to someone the case will be cancel if I am correct. Will appreciate your responce in advance. Thanks

***** Post split from old topic of other member- please ask your own question about your own case in your own thread *****

Since your mother is a greencard holder, the current wait time as per the visa bulletin:

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/law-and-policy/bulletin/2014/visa-bulletin-for-june-2014.html

is 7 years, so your brother has abput another 5.5 years to go.

Yes, if he marries the case will cancel. How long has your mother been a greencard holder? Will she be elligible to become a US citizen soon? If she becomes a US citizen, he can then marry (AFTER she becomes a citizen), but it would add 3.5 years to the wait time for a visa.
