Calling DOS and Holding time

Is it normal to be on hold for over 30 minutes? Right now it has been ~ 34 minutes that I'm on hold.

Trying to call the DOS 202-485-7600 to find out if an interview date has been assigned for my fiance. I called around 4:40 pm their time in Washington D.C.

Does anyone know what would be the best time to try to reach them?

Our visa was last updated on May 19th, after his medical was completed. Kind of thought it'd be the right time to call them now.

Well, apparently my fiance definitely hasn't done the Readiness form because he's still waiting on the UAE police certificate which they indicated that he should have gotten it within 1-2 months. It's been basically 2 months since the end of March and we haven't heard anything from them.

So I don't know what else to do. My fiance sent the Embassy in London an email and all they replied back was that to gather all needed documents and bring them to the interview. Doesn't really specifically address out situation.

On top of that, the documents and papers I sent for Affidavit of Support were dated middle of March. Do they have a time frame of validity on these letters/docs?

I would call about the police cert doesn't look good. I got my police cert from the uk in 3 weeks and it was posted to ireland to me .

No the date on the documents will not cause a problem.

Once he gets the police cert send the notice of readiness and a interview will be scheduled for him.

Then he just brings all the required documents to the interview.

Ok...I saw this piece of information. I was confused at first, and then I saw a thread about this back in 2013.

Does anyone know what this mean?

Police Records

Available, only if applicant is physically present in the UAE.

Police certificates may be obtained by any person, regardless of nationality, by personally appearing at the Central Police Headquarters located in the emirate of residence or former residence. When appearing to request a police certificate, the applicant should provide recent photographs, a letter from the requesting authority, the date of residence in the emirate, and their passport.

Not available by mail. Post recommends that consular officers waive the general requirement to obtain police certificates unless the applicant lives in the UAE.

DOes this mean that the UAE police certificate won't be available to obtain since my fiance no longer resides there.?? If that's the case that really lifted off a lot of stress right now!

Yes after reading what is in the link. They will need to waive that part of the paperwork. Since he is not living there he can not get the required Certificate. Submit the readiness form and wait for the interview. We submitted our readiness form weeks ago and are still waiting. Fiancee will be calling any number she can find tomorrow to find a status we have till 8 Aug to get this done before we have to submit a letter causing more of a delay.

That is what my fiance will do today after work. I can't believe we waited 8 weeks for this. I didn't understand what that sentence was saying until I found a thread yesterday here. I seriously looked for this months ago too, but couldn't find anything. It is still such a huge relief though that we can finally proceed on.

Ours will expire on June 17 as it will be 4 months after NAO2. I've already gotten a new letter of intent written for him to take to the interview in case his was scheduled AFTER 6/17.

All Just got off the phone will the NVC and they let me know that her interview is June 6th 2014 at 9am. From their system it looks like the packet 4 was mailed today. Got in to NVC on the the first call in.
