I know that Hank. And I apologize to those who are tired of reading my hard line opinions. But you can see that not everyone is tired of them, and it seems that the ones who are least tired of them are the ones caught in the same quagmire Candy and I are stuck in.

And I really think I am doing those people some good, as others who would have stood silent have begun to chime in on my threads, and others who already posted feel more normal, as they can see from my rantings that they are not alone.

I am not afraid to stand alone, nor am I afraid to lead, whether it is in something productive or in some stress relieving rant. We certainly don't want the people caught in the quagmire to take out their stress on their fiances, so shouldn't this place be a safe environment where they can do that?

I wish I could do what you did. I wish I did not have a demanding management job to go to every day. I wish I was not tethered to my oncologists office every two weeks so my cancer does not spread. I wish I did not have to have surgery. I wish I could just pick up and go to the Philippines for two months.

Candy's family does have a pretty nice house. And there is a nice beach down the block. And they are really nice people who even put an air conditioner in one of the bedrooms for me when I was there last summer.

But I can't be there. And despite the nice house, Candy feels like a bird in a guilded cage who wants to fly free to New York. And I feel like a helpless fool who is powerless to do this simple thing for the woman I love more than anything else in the world.

And a lot of other people here feel that way too. It never happened to you. But it is happening to us, right now.

So please let us rant. We know it will not speed things up. But it sure does a lot to relieve the frustration that you never experienced.

I am not going to repeat what I wrote in the other thread about how I never questioned those expedites and how the embassy could have planned for them without delaying other people but did not do so. You can read it in the other thread.

TWO PEOPLE to get the final work product out the door. And in the face of the Yolanda crunch they knew was coming.

This is a government agency. Doesn't work like the private sector, never will. I'm not saying I like it, it's just reality. And no they don't need to make it more efficient, because there's no competition. It's not like you can get your visa from another competitor.

Yes, they knew about the Yolanda crunch coming. Just keep in mind this is the same department that knew that the Benghazi attack was coming too.

The sad reality is that I must agree with you. As I have said many times, any business that runs as slow as the government does would be out of business in a month.

And once we get our visas, we are done with the State Department forever. Only have to deal with USCIS again (who is just as bad). Yippie!!!!

Everyone wants their visa right after the interview, who wouldn't? But normal processing time is running closer to 2-3 weeks as of late, and AI422 you aren't there yet, you just figure because you are from New York ........

My dear Lester is a little p$ta.... as I said, I love him BUT his attitude is very rude towards me thinking I can do something

about it. Thanks God he gets medical coverage over here in the US under my Health Plan and he can see a shrink when

he arrives... OH I CAN WAIT!!! Couples therapy here we come :dancing::ranting::dancing:

Anyways its been about 1.5 weeks so I am guessing anytime then, I will update my timeline later when I figure it all out...

If it helps others :) :) :)

Thank you for keeping your timeline updated. Yes it helps all of us a lot.

I understand your situtation, as i am in the same quagmire. Maybe you can approach him with something like asking him what it is you should be doing. If he suggests something counterproductive like emails and phone calls (something you may have to do later but are much too early now), tell him exactly that. Same with Congressionals. Going Congressional is certainly not off the table for me, but it is much too early for that.

Men like to be able to feel like the gladiator, but our "emeny" is behnd a brick wall, and hitting the brick wall right now will only dull our swords. Again, feels good but counterproductive.

Candy and i had a pleasant Skype chat last night. I reminded her that we are at a status quo level, not where we want to be, but at least in a position where we are not getting hurt, and if we stay there until the visa arrives, we will still not be hurt. Once it arrives and she flies here, we go up, but we will never go down or get piushed down unless we let it happen.

My main concern has been imminent cancer surgery. I was concered that I would be in a fresh post op state with nobody to take care of me here,. and then suddenly I will be called upon to drive to JFK Airport and handle luggage, none of which I could do at the time. But I saw my doctor yesterday and explained what was going on, and he said no problem waiting until she was here.

I sent you a PM with my personal email address. Feel free to give it to Lester so he can communicate directly wiith me. I will do whatever I can to help.

I wish I was in NY, or you were here in Chicago. I would gladly give you a hand. Although I am young, I have had more time in the hospital than most people three times my age. I also work in the healthcare field so I can certainly understand the pain and struggles while fighting a disease like cancer. My family has a history of cancer, and I am very hopeful that it will skip me. I must say, I dont think that will be the case, but i remain optimistic.

In which case, you have probably seen our Visa is finally shaping up. It will workout, I know it was painful for me as it would be for others. I do very well at remaining patient, but I dont do well being patient indefinitely with no timeline of anything. I know you will get your visa, and you will feel like me yesterday. Nothing in the world mattered to me other than knowing its only a matter of weeks before I will get to see my love one. Then we will be on the next leg of the journey where Im certain that it will be less time consuming and exhausting.

Hold your head up high. If you ever want to chat let me know. :) From one person in a fast past city(chicago), to another(NY).

take care

Thanks for your kind words. As I found out, the key to sucessful treatment is early detection. I have been subject to prostate exams twice a year (ouch) since I turned 50 because my father had prostate cancer, putting me at an elevated risk. Instead I got it in the colon. But still get whatever screening you need because the disease is far worse than the screening exams, even if the doctor has to insert things where the sun doesn't shine.

That being said I am glad you got your visa. 6 weeks is a bit over the top even in the current atmosphere of incomprehensible backlogs. Most people interviewed around your date got theirs in half the time. But don't hold your breath waiting for an explanation from them for the delay. You will get an explanation from George Bush as to where Saddam's WMD were supposed to be in less time! Just grab your visa and run.

The extended length of time tends to indicate the embassy needed to further investigate a discrepancy before final approval. I have read of where USEM read through a file and kicked it back to NVC because USCIS screwed up ... one never knows.

Well that sucked have to retype this whole thing now....

Basically sure if anything can go wrong it will go wrong!!! Also it could be just the government being

slow!!! We paid an attorney to help and that's what he is paid to DO! So its a waiting game not

that it makes anyone happy, but it is what it is, right??? Les can sit there patiently and wait he has

some health concerns as well and he is young. When he gets here I will get him on my medical

plan and we will go from there.. Its great others are having these issues as well....

Same Embassy!

Same dates!

Same status!

So it's all good! It is what it is?? Right??

Tricia, we are all in this togehter (most of us at least). And we will get out of this too. There are other things that can be done like going Congressional, but it is too early for that. We already know the probelm is they are just too slow, and we don't really need our Congress members to tell us that. I hope we will all be approved soon and it will never come to having to do that. And if Lester wants to communicate direclty with me, I already sent you a PM with my personal e-mail.

When Lester gets his visa do what I will do when Candy gets her visa: Grab it and run. Hell will freeze over before USEM acknowledges any shortcomings on their part, so don't hold your breath waiting for it. You will be done with them forever.
