Hi!

Thank you for the info! I will just leave it. :)

My partner has no criminal record or illegal records.

Me and my partner we both hold passport that needs to apply visa to almost every country.

Just my concern that he may not get the green card too cuz i heard a lot of stories about family seperated due to the visa issue. :(

That's why.

If he hasn't done anything wrong there is no reason why he wouldn't get a visa. As long as you are married before the interview and can show evidence it is a real relationship and not a "green card marriage", if you get approved your spouse will too. The only reason they would refuse a spouse of someone approved is if he had a criminal record or previous US visa violation and was stil subject to the applicable ban. Honestly, I don't know what stories you've heard, but if this is all you're worried about you should pursue the application.

Applying for the lottery is not intent to immigrate - it is just entering a lottery. Submitting a DS230 or now DS260 is the intent to immigrate. I'd say if the OP does not hit "submit" on the DS he has not shown intent and does not need to declare it.

When I applied for my B2 I mentioned that I applied for the DV lottery. Even as you apply for the visa, they have the database. Call me paranoid but I don't want to risk rejection for "witholding" something so small. P.S. I got the visa.

That's good for you, but you don't have to, it doesn't count as immigrant intent until you have filled in a DS230 or DS260 which is the actual application for immigration. That's also why they don't automatically process every selectee for interview - they still have to actually apply for immigration.

False limitation? ;(

I'm getting married and scared partner won't get also :(

Worried that it might affect my chance to go visit in the future :(

It's your life but..

Once you are married your husband can get a greencard too. A wonderful wedding present.

I don't see why you'd give up a greencard to keep a tourist visa.

Help me please :(

I filled in some parts of DS-260 forms online but in the middle of it, i found out that the green card holders cannot stay out of US for long.

I have some commitments in my hometown and plan to get married end of this year. :(

So i think i got cold feet and dont want to proceed with application any further.

Help me how to withdraw? The status now is "Incomplete" .

Hi Suu

You dont need to do any thing if you dont want apply please leave it incomplete, so you dont get any call for interview. Leave for few month later you may re process if you want.
