So i've read posts/timelines saying that it typically takes 2-3 weeks for the USCIS to ship out the packet to NVC after the approval date.

I didn't receive an approval email or a separate approval notice letter from USCIS but just one letter in the mail saying that the case was approved and forwarded to NVC. The only Status also had 2 updates on the same day - approval in the AM and shipped in the PM.

Question, is it normal for the case to be approved and shipped to NVC on the same day? If not normal, has anybody had the same situation as me? I wanted to know so that I could try to figure out when to call NVC to ask for the case number.

I called NVC a couple of days after USCIS said it was shipped to them and they told me it will take 4-6 weeks for them to receive it and enter it in their system.

Just start calling NVC in about 2 weeks. Normal who knows most people just start calling figuring it is sent out. Not all Service centers even update the website and tell you when they ship. Who knows if its really shipped. I have seen many report it said shipped and a month or so later they fond out they are still sitting at USCIS. That's what happened to me. I wouldn't take what you read online as gospel. All you can do is follow up read what is the next steps while you wait the 4 to 8 week for case#.

Read the NVC Process wiki in my signature for guidance. Congratulations anyway though.

The I-130 we've sent and that was approved by the USCIS went through that too, it says in website it was approved then shipped same day, however, after a week, the date ( when the I-130 was shipped to the NVC) changed. The new date in the USCIS (when they sent the I-130 to NVC ) was a week after the approval. Start calling the NVC after 2 weeks.

Thanks dwheels76 and Dean_De!

I just called NVC and found out that they received my case on 5/23/14 but not yet entered into their system. She also said it will take 20-30 days. So, when the case entered the system, is that the same time we'll get our CASE and IIN?

There's usually few days after that yes. And they say 20 to 30 days for everything. I would say in 2 weeks call them back or call them whenever you like I liked calling them. LOL

So our I-130 got approved on May 29, 2014. I knew It would be too soon to learn anything from NVC, but I though I would try and call them anyway just to see what would happen. I got though after 32 calls and 35 minutes of waiting and they told me they haven't received it yet and to expect it to take 5 weeks to arrive from Texas, because they send them in bulk. I have also heard that you should check with the USCIS customer service to see if it's just sitting there or if it's been sent. When I called the USCIS at 1-800-375-5283 and entered my Receipt number the automated message said it was sent on June 4, 2014 to NVC.

Do you think that means I should keep calling later next week to see if it has officially arrived? Or does everyone's say it left USCIS and then it still takes 30+ days to have them say it arrived?

Thanks for your help!

Mine took 2 weeks for NVC to see that it was received. I would suggest calling 2 weeks from now to see if they received it. From what i've seen, 2 weeks for NVC to receive the case and 4-6 weeks to enter the case in their system. 2006.gif

Good luck!
