Husband washed passport with all stuff inside...

YIKES!!!!!! My husband accidentally washed his passport, with his visa, I-94, etc all inside of it. We were going to file for AOS soon but you need copies of all this stuff. Its pretty much ruined. I know you can order another copy of your I-94, and we found out how to replace his passport, but how do we go about replacing his K-3 visa? The only thing I can find says he has to go back to Australia. Is this true? If so we totally screwed because we cannot afford that and two, how can he exit and leave the country? Would we need to wait for his new passport and I-94 to prove that he is a Resident Alien and can leave and reenter? Any help you have is appreciated. Thanks !!!!!

Yikes indeed! It can happen so easily though- I know that even though I check pockets some things still get past me and I launder money and pens. I think the best thing to do would be to make an infopass appointment with your immigration office, bring them the washed passport, documents, etc. and ask the immigration officer there what you should do. I am sure you are not the first to have run into this or a similar problem; while it isn't part of the normal routine they would be in a better position to advise you of your options. Good luck!
