So I have my K1 interview in a weeks time, and I'm making sure I have all my paperwork together. I've read all the lists, and I think I have everything, but I just wanted to double check on a few things.

I have:

  • DS-160 confirmation + copies
  • I-134 Affidavit of Support with - 2013 W2 document, a copy of 2 of her Earnings Statement from her employer, from Jan/Feb and a signed letter from her manager detailing her length of employment, her position, her income and the position of her employment (a permanent position). + copies
  • Interview notification letter + copies
  • Several photos, both UK passport and US visa sized
  • Current passport and old passport
  • Police Certificate + copies
  • Long Form Birth Certificate + copies
  • Recently dated Letter of Intent (dated May 14th) signed by fiancee +copies
  • Printout of Visa Payment Reciept + copies
  • Proof of Ongoing Relationship (some Christmas/Valentines Day cards, chat/call logs from Skype)

Is this everything? Have I forgotten anything? Also, will the supporting documentation for the I-134 be enough? How about the details of the ongoing relationship? We haven't had a chance to visit each other since the visa began, so other than what we have, I don't know what more we can provide.

And finally, will the Embassy ask anything about my finances? I have seen some people in the past talking about being asked questions about their finances, and I'm a little worried. My fiancee more than meets the I-134 requirements, but I barely make more than minimum wage right now, and will be bringing over under $10k. Will this be an issue?

Thanks in advance for the responses, sorry if I sound like a worrywort, but the more I read, the more nervous I become that I've somehow forgotten something.

There is a list on the embassy website to review. What you have may be enough, but that is assuming you have never been married, changed your name, or been in the military for example.

You don't need multiple copies of confirmations and the appointment. Save a copy at home if you want to keep for your records.

The passport photo are US size.

Her employer letter will be all the financial proof they need. They don't care about your financials if you have a sponsor.

They do not need proof of your relationship.

The updated letter of intent is only if you don't interview within 4 months of your petition approval. Your first letter from London had the date on it. Probably around June 12.

Edit: forgot to say--Take anything you want to take, but be comforted that you have too much rather than thinking you will fall short.

Thanks for the reply Nick. Yeah, I saw the list on the Embassy, mostly I just wanted clarification I had everything correct. To respond to your points:

No, I have never been previously married, changed my name, been in the military, committed any crimes, adopted a child or lived outside the UK at any point.

Mostly the copies are for my own records and spares in case of any accidents.

I have plenty of US visa sized photos, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Glad to hear about not needing my financials. Saw a thread where someone had said they were quizzed about it, but I realise now they were apparently trying to self sponsor too.

When you say within 4 months of the petition approval, do you mean the Priority Date? The first letter I had, regarding the approved petition, has a Priority Date of Feb 10th, so we'd almost be outside that window for my interview on the 4th. Well, I have it just in case. Is it ok that it's just an updated version of the bog standard Letter of Intent template from this site? It is signed by my fiancee, but that's it.

Thanks again for your assistance.

Yes, it just needs to say she is free to marry and intends to marry you within 90 days of your entry on a K1 visa. Sign it... No notary or anything like that. They don't always even ask for those when you are well passed NOA2 expiration, but you've got it if needed. Enjoy your interview. It is nothing to fear.
