Is it true that the more you call to get information the more they push back on things? They consider it suspicious if you call too often?

who told you that? That is silly. I call 3 times a day sometimse and I know others who call more often than I do. The operators are not the ones who review the cases. They do log in everytime you call, but that doesn't slow it down.

I don't really know for sure the answer, and I would love to know if someone knows this for sure.

What I DO KNOW is that I called the NVC last week asking if they had received my case and the guy told me they had, and then I called today again and the woman who talked to me informed that my case had been received, and the way she talked seemed to imply that she did not even know I had already called before, and she told that no information on the case is added until the case is assigned a number. So, I am guessing that that means there is no real following up of our calls or how many calls we make. But that is just my guess. I'd love to know if someone knows for sure, and I'd definitely love to know that it does make a difference if we call more often. (Although I believe that if everybody started doing the same, in the end it would not really change anything, right? )

The call center people are not the ones handling the cases. And the last thing the people handling the cases want to do it reshuffle them around to make it take longer for those that have irritated the call center people.

They have thousands of files to deal with . They do log every time you call and who spoke to you. I have had several operators tell me the last time they talked to me etc... plus I asked and they told me they keep a log in your file.

They are only operators. Most of them don't even know the whole process, so if you want a good answer to your question... either call back 3 times and ask the same question or follow the NVC May Filers thread and ask over there. You'll get a better response.

and they don't have time to try and match your user name up to your file at the NVC. So don't even worry about that.

Its better to call in the evening because the operators are nicer. The day shift is horrible.

Let me put it this way --- if they are spending time to look over all off visa journey logs and the call logs to see who is calling and who is spending time talking to them, and deciding on that factor --- simply put - they DONT have the time. The amount of data they would have to crunch through on top of all the requests they get is not doable. I believe the errors and backlogs come from overworked and understaffed offices and to top it, we are talking about a bureaucratic process in a government establishment.

Seriously. No way. I called 3 to 5 times a day for 8 months. Why would it be suspicious to find out about your case. No its your business so call.

They don't like it hang up get another operator. It's about how bad do you want it.

I got to know people by first name and they knew me was no issue at all and I got much favor.

NVC is a private firm contracted to handle processing of approved petitions.

Yes you are right. What I wanted to imply was even though it is run by a private firm, but they are following the rules of the state government, a bureaucratic establishment which means it tends to take time and has errors. I don't know if anyone is listening to the number of times you call and setting up on that basis to push your case forward or backwards but my personal opinion is that its not true, as there are enough cases on NVC thread where people call daily and there paperwork is moving at the same speed as people who don't call at all. though I believe with all the money that give should be used to give them free coffee and red bull so that they can work at a lot more speed.
