hi!

i have already the receipt number.. receipt date is april 8, 2014, priority date april 6, 2014 & I-130 approved may 16, 2014.. how long do i need to wait from the nvc? is my PD current?.. thanks!

you have to wait for your case number at nvc. And no your PD is not current. For July 2014 visa bulletin's cut off date retrogressed to May 2012. So I guess this would really be a long wait. Goodluck with your visa journey.

what type of visa are u?! if ur ir1 or cr1 visa, PD is not a question!.

Likely F-2A or so - certainly not IR-1/CR-1.

Hi guys, I'm pretty new here and not very familiar with the "waiting system".

I'm in the same situation of "simplygracey" (filed F2A - NOA1 9 april - NOA2 12 may).

I know that - for a spouse of permanent resident - the place in the waiting line is determined by the NOA1, however one thing I don't understand is the way this queue moves.

For example, what do you mean by: "For July 2014 visa bulletin's cut off date retrogressed to May 2012."

By the way, I am aware that I'll have to wait for about one year before a visa becomes available for my spouse ..

Thanks a lot for any clarification (the easier the better :) ) you may give me on this regard.

In your NOA1, there's a "priority date" field. That's your magic date you have to reference when checking the visa bulletin. What that means that your case will go thru it's normal process thru the NVC but you won't get an interview until the bulletin's cutoff date is on/after your priority date.

By the way, I am aware that I'll have to wait for about one year before a visa becomes available for my spouse ..

At this point, no one knows when or how the visa bulletin will move. Could be a few months, could be years. Just like June's bulletin, there is a possibility of a backward movement (retrogression). HTH

Hello yannix, thanks a lot for your reply.

I would like to ask you for some clarification..

It is not very clear to me when you say "in your NOA1, there's a priority date field".

I mean, the only thing I can see in the letter they sent me is a space where it says: "DATE PETITION FILED - April 9, 2014" which I guess is my NOA1.

I believe we are talking about the same thing but .. in a slight different way, but better be sure :)

The other thing is: when you say that "you won't get an interview until the bulletin's cutoff date is on/after your priority date", you mean later (more recent) and not after.

Is that correct?

One last thing, somewhere in the forum I read the following: "The VB advanced 1 yr and 9 months last august 2013 then got stuck for 7months, now, it retrogressed 1yr and 4months".

Well, in light of that consideration, I really don't understand the "logic" of the VB .. if it has a logic :)

My priority date is in nov 2013 !

How long do I need to wait for this date to be current ?

Right now according to the visa bulletin the priority date for F2A category is may 2012. If the process goes on a normal pace then you have to wait exactly one and a half year for a visa to be available.

But it is only assumption as sometimes priority dates move very quickly. Last year during Aug and Sep the priority date was set as "current" that means no waiting time. So there is a chance that the priority date moves miraculously. We never know. If that happens your wait time will become short. Best of luck.

The logic behind the priority date retrogression is something hard to understand. Personally I find it illogical. Then again how much do I understand. ?

About the noa1 date you got, it is your priority date. I mean when you open the visa bulletin and can see the priority date written there as april 9 or any other date after april 9 then your wait is over. Then you will get an interview call very soon.

Best of luck.

The person who started this thread is probably under the F2A category (Spouse of LPR).

Those whose category is IR1/CR1 (Spouse of US Citizen), post your questions here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/110-ir-1-cr-1-spouse-visa-process-procedures/

Just to avoid confusion, okay?
