I got my NOA1 email on 05/26. ? I need a help. We sent our original marriage certificate (not certified) due to not understanding the difference between certified and original copy with I130 petition. I think we made a major mistake. Is there a way to inform USCIS about this or not? When NVC asks for marriage certificate can I send them a certified copy of our marriage certificate? Should I mention that I sent my original copy to USCIS with I130 petition? And also will I get back my original marriage certificate?

i sent a copy, not certified, will this be a problem?( marriage certificate) please help if you can, thank you

Everything to be sent to USCIS should be a plain photocopy only (not original, not certified).

This is clearly specified on the I-130 instructions on page 2: "Unless specifically required that an original document be filed with an application or petition, a legible photocopy may be submitted."

NVC on the other hand requires that you either submit the original or a certified copy of the document like birth certificate (beneficiary), marriage certificate, police certificate etc.
