When to pay CR-1 $165 Immigrant fee and to whom

Trying to line up the last bit of this information. When and where is the last fee paid?

It's recommended to pay it before the alien enters the US for the first time on their immigrant visa, but in practicality you can do so up to a year after entry without issue, you just won't receive the physical green card in the mail until it's paid.

Hello! Im not doubting you , but how certain are you that my family can enter the US without any issues by delaying this $165 fee? Im bringing 3 people here and Its getting kinda expensive specially me having to pay 3 times . Im not complaining because i love my family to death but you know what i mean...

They absolutely can enter without the fee paid. People on the forum have done so. The endorsed visa becomes a temporary green card for up to 1 year after entry.

I feel your pain. I just brought 3 over on K1/K2 and the expenses still have not stopped. But you know, every night that I put my head on my pillow, someone sweet whispers in my ear, "I love you sweetie, Good night". That never happened when I was widowed. Keep the faith. It will all work out.

BTW, yes you can wait on the fee as others have stated.

Thanks greenbaum! I'm glad to hear that I can delay this fee. I totally agree that immigration expenses can be overwhelming specially for a regular people like us but coming home from a long day of work and seeing your family in there waiting for you is priceless

Am I assuming that this fee can't be paid until my wife has her Visa in hand because it's requesting information I don't have yet. (A number and DOS Case ID...)
