This is how we do holidays in the Gunshine State, y'all.

CLEARWATER BEACH, Fla. - Two people were injured and four were arrested after a series of Memorial Day shooting incidents in Florida, reports CBS affiliate WTSP.

According to the station, Jerry Lee Holmes, Terrance Antonio Kirnes, Jeffery James Grier and Jared Kashon Woodard are in custody for their alleged roles in the shootings which broke out in Clearwater Beach on Monday. It is unclear if the suspects have been charged.

The shooting victims were not identified. WTSP reports one person fled the scene after being shot in the hand. Another person was taken to a local hospital for treatment after being shot in the groin.

The first shooting happened outside of a Hyatt Regency hotel and was the result of a verbal argument between two groups of people, the station reports. Police said that the argument escalated into a fight and that someone fired a gun.

In a second incident shortly after that, shots were reportedly fired at one of the groups from the hotel parking garage.

A third shooting incident took place nearby a little while later, but details were not given, according to WTSP.

Police said they recovered multiple firearms. Access to the beach was temporarily cut off during their investigation.

I don't know. How many drowned? How many got sick? How many burned themselves while grilling? Intriguing questions all but not exactly relevant here.

Memorial Day used to be the biggest weekend for auto related fatalities. Way more people got killed in car accidents than got shot and killed. Cars are very dangerous and need to be more tightly regulated. Anyone who sells a used car should have to do a background check on the buyer and make sure he had the necessary driving skills before signing over the title. No buying cars at auctions through a straw. Mandatory eye and hearing checks in order to get a drivers license. Also, reflexes must be tested. All cars should have breathalyzers in order to be started. Each car should have a chip so that it can only be started by it's owner. Driving is a privilege, gun ownership is a right.

Did the same short of the gun - no need for it - and happy to report the same result. Folks in Clearwater Beach weren't so lucky seeing how some people - obviously incorrectly - thought it would be a good idea to bring guns to the beach.
