I keep reading people should send copies of their passport showing stamps into their foreign fiance's country, boarding passes, receipts from that country, hotel receipts, etc.

But why wouldn't just a copy of the passport be enough information? That is an official stamp and clearly shows you were in the country for the exact amount of time you say you were. Are all the other things necessary? I haven't filed yet so please share your information before I make any mistakes. :) Thank you! :help:

The thinking is just entering a country doesn't mean you saw this specific person. Receipts, pictures etc prove you were actually with the person you happen to be filing for.

Exactly, the passport proves you went to a certain place, but it doesn't prove you met your fiance there. It's a collection of things that will put you two together at the same place.

Well I would think the more evidence you had of your visit ads more weight to your petition. It is better to have to much then not enough.

Also, unless you enter a country that requires a visa (and therefore has your name on it), an entry stamp on a passport page does not reference your name and those pages could in fact have come from any USC's passport. So in order to strengthen the proof of entry/exit into the country, your passport along with your ticketed itinerary and boarding passes adds additional evidence that the entry/exit stamps are in fact yours. It is all about trying to provide the strongest evidence possible and providing the little extras to provide the assurance the adjudicator wants/needs/likes to see.

YMMV

good points.thanks.

unfortunately when i went to my fiances country a few times i didn't think ahead that we would get married, that i would file for a visa, and that you would need this kind of proof for it.

i don't have anything to show i was in morocco other than LOTS of photos and my stamps in the passport. i'm not sure what else to do now:(

That is a tough one.

I am reading about a visa rejection because a petitioner, did not have airline tickets to show, and evidence that the petitioner bought the tickets.

To second what everyone else has said, the passport stamps put you in the country; the boarding passes help place you in the area; hotel receipts place you in the city. You're trying to paint a picture in the mind of the adjudicating officer, where the best explanation of the evidence is 'these two met in person.'

Not every piece is necessary. I don't have a single hotel or ATM receipt from my trips, as I never stayed in a hotel or went to an ATM. C. didn't even have a passport until three months ago, so for him, we obviously couldn't prove he had visited me by passport stamps.

Passport stamps are good evidence though. Think outside the box a bit to see what other evidence you can dig up. How did you book your trips? Can you get the itinerary? How did you purchase the trips? With a credit card? Does your monthly statement include the destination for the trip? Did you use an ATM or a credit card on your trip? Each piece on its own might not prove anything, but if you have a series of passport stamps, some itineraries, and some photos, you'll probably be in good shape.

Do you have bank statements that show you were in Morocco?

E-mails between you and your fiance talking about a trip?

Proof that you lived/worked there (if applicable)?

Maybe the airline can give you some kind of proof if you don't have the boarding passes - sky miles etc.

If this helps, this is what I sent for our case:

(I know everyone is different, but maybe it will help)

Copy of Brazilian visas from passport

Copy of Stamped entries into Brazil

Copy of teaching certificate from Brazil

Copy of both sides of Brazilian residency card with translation

Copy of Flight Coupons and Itinerary from latest trip

Receipt from hotel and business card with translation

Pictures (6) from 2004 until the present

abdounjen, great!

I sent in four photos with the I-129F. Check with the other MENA girls, but remember that in the petition phase, you're trying to do is prove that you've met. You can save the other evidence for the interview.

It's better to send a bit of everything than an album of photos. I was surprised to hear only 5 pictures as well - my fiance and I had separated 45 aside. But it is not necessary to send all those - USCIS would get tired of seeing our photos and wouldn't look at all of them.

Send those that can show you're in another country, of you two happy to be together, of you both with family/friends...

We sent one photo.

A lot of these issues are Consulate specific.
