The thing is , I have an awesome job and I make good money. So I don't wanna quit my job but I also love my gf. So prolly , I'm just gonna get her a student visa and have her study here. We don't have to get married to love each other :)

Who said anything about quitting your job? You fly to Turkey, get married there, fly back to the US then file i130. You can make short visits to Turkey in between while she's waiting for her immigrant visa.

A student visa is viable as well. She applies for it, not you. She will be approved or denied based on her own merits and ties to Turkey.

Wow :( So I guess I'm just gonna get regular tourist visa and I'm gonna get married with here in here U.S. So she can stay with me until I get my citizenship. Otherwise there is no way that I can live with her here. This is sad.

Be careful, friend. Coming over with intent to immigrate is visa fraud (on the tourist visa). You can get married in the U.S with intent, but she would still have to go back to Turkey, and go the CR-1 route.

Thank you all! As I said , I think I'm just gonna bring my gf here with student visa. I really don't know why this is really hard to do. I mean if you don't want my wife here , why did you give me a green card ? Am I wrong? It just makes me sad...

Just curious, how did you obtain your green card?

From Lottery my friend. I'm glad that I have it but still it doesn't make sense that you just can't bring your wife to live together.

You can bring her over but you have got to understand that the process takes time. There's no magical shortcut.

Having a green card is a privilege and you should know that since you were lucky to win it. Having a green card holder boyfriend/husband doesn't automatically grant your girlfriend/wife immigration status. If you want her to have a green card too, file i130.

Patience is something you need to learn or acquire. Good luck.

Hi all. First off all if this post isn't at the right place I am sorry. I am a green card holder and I've been living in California for the last 2 years. I have never been in a trouble or something like that. I have a girlfriend in Turkey that I wanna get married soon. I have talked to a few friends and everyone says something different. I am extremely confused. They say I can not bring my girlfriend If I get married in Turkey. Is that right ? If so , isn't there any way to bring her here or do something else ? Please help me about this.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe she can get a student visa, go to school close by and live with you until you get your citizenship and then she could adjust status.

Do some research to make sure she won't be accused of visa fraud if she decides to go this route.

Yes Khenzee. That is what I am going to research for. I have friends (Couple and they are married) from Turkey. They came here with tourist visa and now he just turned his tourist visa to student visa. Only he goes to school and she can stay with him with his student visa. I don't understand why this is hard for green card holders :) Do you guys think that it would help if I talk to an immigrant lawyer or something ?

It's not about patience my friend.. I just do not wanna live without my wife for 2-3 years not even a year tho.. I mean who does that :/ To be honest , I would rather live with my wife in Turkey.

No one wants that. They all been through this hideous process and options were given to u. As Apple21 said, you are lucky enough to just win it. But remember, it is worth it. As the saying said, "patience is a virtue". Here is a link where you can check the estimated processing time, just scroll down and choose the option that applies to you which is filling I-130 https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard/CaseStatus.do

Thank you Singpinas. I just checked the link that you sent me and got the result as I shared below.

USCIS National Goal - 5.0 Month(s)

USCIS National Average - 9.3 Month(s)

California Service Center - 5.0 Month(s)

So does this mean 19 Months? :/

Your girlfriend can apply for a tourist visa that will allow her to enter the US for up to 90 days. At the POE the officer May or may not deny her.

After she enters the US, yu two can marry but she must leave before the 90 days expires.

You file form a petition for which she will have to wait nearly two years.

I'm afraid that's the only way your girlfriend will move to the US

Bringing adoring spouse to immigrate is a privilege not a right. If you are married, anywhere, you apply for CR1... But as everyone e has said, for LPRs it is a few years... DO NOT have her come and overstay a tourist visa as it will create a mess down the road... If you want her to stay with you, then the student visa looks to be a viable route... She can study, then you can decide what you wish to do... Nobody WANTS to be separated from their loved ones, but there is a system to immigrate and sometimes must be separated...

Yes Probably student visa looks like it's the best choice. I don't know if that's true but I just talked to my friend who has been in the same situation , He said that "bring her here with student visa and then get married after few months. Then you can start your process and she can even visit her family in Turkey and come back here." I think I am going to choose this way.
