wrong information on wedding,what to do about the AOS form

Hi everyone and takes for checking this out, My friend has a problem with if marriage certificate by give wrong information to the city clark on his wedding day. He got marriage in NY city and only his wedding day he was asked if he had been married before and he said No, but he was marriage before me came here and later divorce about 3 years ago but he thought that question was meant if he has ever been married here in the USA not abroad since he has hard time understanding english, i would like to know if this would bring any confusion, later if he writes in is form that he was married before ?

04/01/14 Sent AOS I-485 + I-130 + I-765 (day 1)

04/03/14 Package delivered at Chicago office (day 3)

04/09/14 Received 3 emails. Status: Accpt for I-485, Initial Review for I-130+I-765(day 9)

04/16/14 Hard Copies of NOA received + Biometric Appointment Letter for 05/07/14(16)

04/28/14 Successful walk-in for Biometrics Appointment jamaica Ave (28)

05/06/14 Notifications via text & e-mail: i-485 updated to "Testing and Interview (36)

He lied to officials and needs to fix that. He needs to go back to the clerk and tell them. It is most definitely not OK.

8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
