Hi,

Is it required to show 2yr of relationship for K1 visa process?, as me and my fiance, met a year ago in person, got engaged earlier this year.

We talk a lot on phone, use facebook, send texts for frequent communication. Apart from boarding tickets of flight trip and communication documents of phone or facebook messages or text messages, pictures of us together, receipts (Shopping..) what other evidences are required to associate during filing of I-129F?

Please advise.

Request responses from members who went through the K1 process.

Even it is not a mandatory to show USCIS of your ongoing relationship, but it is better to point out that your relationship is genuinely and constant communication between both of you is a strong point. Not only for a green card thing.

For me and my then- fiancé ( my now husband), we sent our first conversations on YouTube in 2008, a few emails range from 2008-2013, Skype subscription, Shutterfly account history for buying gifts for my then-fiancé, video calls screenshot from Skype, 10 pictures, and passport stamps. We were approved in 38 days without RFE.

It is required to show proof that you met in person at least once within the 2 years prior to filing the I-129F petition There is not a requirement for the length of time you have been in a relationship.

Proof of meeting are the passport stamps, boarding passes, receipts and a few pictures together

You can 'front-load' your I-129F petition with whatever evidence of your ongoing relationship you think would be helpful for the CO to review for the K-1 visa interview that comes later, after the I-129F has been approved. Proof of relationship would be a few extra photos(together with friends and/or family are good for this), phone/message/chat logs, and things of that nature.
