Hello everyone,

My fiancé's K1 interview was April 7. He did well, and the CO said "there are no problems approving the visa." My fiancé asked for the CO's name, as he was instructed to do by our lawyer, and the CO chuckled and said "you only need to know my name if there is a problem, and there is no problem with your visa."

Four weeks ago, responding to my congressman's email inquiry, the embassy emailed and said that our "Administrative Processing is complete," the application is under "final review with the consulate officer, and should be issued shortly."

Checking on the ceac status site, our case has been "updated" several times since the interview, according to the date changes, but none of the information changes. It still says we are in AP, even though the embassy said the AP is finished.

What is "final review"? I'm sure their definition of "shortly" is different than my definition of shortly. Has anyone had this before? If so, how long did your "final review" take?

Thank you in advance!

We had our interview December 18, 2013. The CO thought we were married when interviewing, and he told my then fiance (now husband) that he was going to check to make sure we weren't married. If we weren't, he'd go ahead with the visa. The visa was issued February 4, 2014. So, our AP was about 1.5 months.

Also, my husband said that at the time there was a paper/receipt he received that actually had the signature of the CO on it. That's how we knew his name.

I'm not sure what "final review" means, maybe it was just their way of dodging the senator's inquiry and you are still in AP? I would go by the CEAC status. I believe it says "Ready" when AP is finished and the visa is going to be printed. Then you should expect to get it a few days to a week later. Total AP time varies to only a few days to a few months. Hope you get news soon!

Heather, the congressman's representative explained that the difference between AP and final review is that with AP they are still collecting paperwork, but with final review they have all the paperwork and they are reviewing it...for a month and counting.
