So i'm applying for my US Citizenship and i'm stuck in Part 11 questions 39-40.

for question 38: are you currently a member of the US armed forces? answerd NO

but question 39. if you are currently a member of the US armed forces are you scheduled to deploy overseas, including to a vessel within the next 3 months? answered no

question 40: if you are currently a member of the US armed forces are you currently stationed overseas? answered no

so my question is for questions 39 & 40 i should answer NO and not leave it blank correct?

If someone can help me, that will be great.

Well, it *IS* hard to understand (not just hard to understand but impossible to answer) because neither "Yes" nor "No" are applicable if you are not currently a member of the U.S. Armed Forces. The pdf form does not provide N/A for these questions. The pdf form prevents applicants from answering certain questions depending on the answers to previous questions. For example; in part 11 question 46, if you answer No to 46 a then you cannot enter an answer in 46 b. According to the same logic, if you answer No to 38 then you should not be able to make any answer to 39 or 40. In this case the instruction say to answer "N/A" but that is not an available check box.

However, lacking better guidance and with only the ability to *guess* what IO expects to see, my completely blind recommendation is to answer "No" if 37 is "No".

If I recall correctly, I just left them blank. No issues. The IO will go over all the questions again anyway at the interview. Answering No or leaving blank won't cause them to reject your application.

They really need to make these questions gray out if you answer No to 38 just like they do in other areas of the form. I believe there are other questions where this issue comes up.
