AP after interview - Will June retrogression impact my visa?

After interview, CO said my file was all good but she needs to do additionnal checkings and handed me a 221G white slip. It says, if I do not hear from them after 3 weeks, I may call the Embassy for updates. I told the CO about June retrogression and the fact that my PD will not be current and if this will eventually affect me but she said no because I am already in the system... What do you guys think? The 3 weeks will be over by June 2nd when retrogression has just kicked in, should I worry about my visa or trust the CO?

I believe regression is always in play up until your visa is issued. Since yours hasn't been, it's still on the table.

Visa Retrogression

Usually the cut-off dates on the Visa Bulletin move forward in time, but not always. Demand for visa numbers by applicants with a variety of priority dates can fluctuate from one month to another, with an inevitable impact on cut-off dates. Such fluctuations can cause cut-off date movement to slow, stop, or even retrogress. Visa retrogression occurs when more people apply for a visa in a particular category or country than there are visas available for that month. Retrogression typically occurs toward the end of the fiscal year as visa issuance approaches the annual category, or per-country limitations. Sometimes a priority date that meets the cut-off date one month will not meet the cut-off date the next month. When the new fiscal year begins on October 1, a new supply of visas is made available and usually, but not always, returns the dates to where they were before retrogression.

mmmm......bertoli, I would be concerned....

I don't know if being in AP "reserves" a visa for you even if your PD were current.

my understanding is that at the time when your application is approved, there must be a visa available....therefore your PD must be current.

perhaps Darnell can weigh in?

3 business days to go from F2A June Retrogression and Case still under AP.... I am really getting worried about hearing any news from the Embassy or a status update on CEAC

I have read about a similar case here recently. The interview was on 13th of May, and the CO needed more time to review the case. Yesterday, on 27th they got the visa. Hopefully you will make it before retrogression.

Thanx Leyla&Nodir, Indeed I have read about this case. All I can say is they have been lucky or CO took into consideration the upcoming visa retrogression. If nothing happens today or tomorrow, God only knows what will happen with my case....

Maybe you should contact your embassy. Explain to them that you will be subject to the retrogression next month. Maybe this will speed up things. HTH

I think they take retro into consideration. At my interview, the first person who checks the documents warned me about june retro, and told me that if I were missing any document, my visa would be delayed. It would be better to call the embassy (if they accept calls), because they are also people, and make mistakes, remind them about your case. Good luck!

Unfortunately they don't take calls but I was provided an address email where I can contact them or inquire about my case. Let's hope something positive comes out of it. Otherwise it would simply mean it's not the time for me to get a visa.
