Hello!

We submitted out I-741 packet 12/26/13 and received a RFE at the beginning of May. We have until July to re-send the packet.

Original packet - We submitted one page/statement (December '13) of each:

  • 2 different banks - statements
  • credit card statement
  • credit card rewards
  • donations (church, charity)
  • House (appraisal, title, mortgage statement)
  • Insurance (car, life, medical)
  • Photos (2011: September, October, 2012: March - vacation, July - vow renewal ceremony in Honduras, November, 2013: Jan, April, June - first house, friend's wedding, August - friend's wedding, friend's visit, Color Me Rad 5k race, October - carving pumpkins) Some pictures with friends/family, some with just us.
  • Utilities (AT&T, Madison Gas & Electric, Madison Municipal Services)
  • Tax Returns 2012

RFE - specifically asked for evidence of joint residency & joint financial responsibility. I'm thinking to gather paperwork for the RFE I should probably add:

  • Quarterly statements of all bank, cc, donations, etc since our marriage (July '11)
  • Apartment rental agreement from the first 2 years of marriage
  • At the time of the RFE the only loan we had was the mortgage & the bank would only put my name on it bc my husband didn't have any credit. Since then I had a car accident - which totaled my car. We've bought two cars since then. We asked to put "Melissa & Juan" on the title, but they put "Melissa or Juan." Now the car loan appears that its in my name with him as a secondary. I need to call I verify that.
  • Copy of new car title / registration
  • Copy of new car loan
  • Copy of husband's renewed driver's permit; it expires 5/28/14.
  • Copy of husband's registration to re-take driver's test.
  • Pregnancy evidence - suggestions???
  • Tax Returns from 2011 & 2013

Anything else I should include in the new packet?

I really appreciate any feedback/suggestions. Thanks all!

They specificaly want joint lease papers showing both names on it.Also residency should cover whole 2 years time.

Also you need to send statements of joint bank account .They should cover 2 years showing transaction history(balance does not matter ,what matters is that account is used and not static)You no need to send statements from all banks, joint bank statement is what they want to see.

You need to send tax transcript of 2011 and 2012,just tax return is not gonna work.

You can order tax transcript of 2013 too if tax is paid.

Also, if you have, throw in electricity/gas/water bills both on your names. That would show both co-mingling of finances (assume you guys paid that from your joint account) as well as joint residence. If you send all that you listed to send in along with bills, you're more than good to go. All the best!

Ps: editing this to add more ideas in: TV/internet bills. Phone bills....:)

Thanks for the suggestions! Here is what I added:

  • MONTHLY statements of bank & cc accounts, utilities since our marriage
  • Apartment rental agreement from the first 2 years of marriage
  • Car titles & loan info (which were bought after the RFE due to a totaled car).
  • Pregnancy evidence - letter from doctor, 6 week baby class, sonogram pics and couple/prego pictures
  • Tax Returns from 2011 & 2013
  • Letters from sister, husband's boss (who knows both of us) and a close family friend.

The revised packet was received on 7/7/14, approved on 7/11/14 and a new card was received a week later!!!
