My fiancé is confused about the part where it asks for your father's information. Her fathered passed away many years ago but she doesn't know the exactly year he died, and has no way of finding out and none of his relatives seem to know either. She has a fair guess that it was 1996 but isn't sure. Also, his name is not on her birth certificate. How significant is this question? Can she just guess a year?

I do not remember exactly what the form asks for but she could just write deceased and date unknown. If she doesn't know for sure, I do not think that's a big deal.
