Yes it was $36k for 2013 but not anymore this year($20 000).We are worried that they would want more because we barely meet the 125% of poverty guidelines. We are just $500 above it!Haha

Key factor is you MEET the guidelines... so relax.

Just gather the documents to substantiate the income being there is no tax returns - from SSI the verification letter, and if you can get one from the city pension that would be good as well.

You have a tax return for 2013?

Very common for the embassy to not accept a co-sponsor with the K-1 visa.

Poverty guidelines for two is $19,662 gross income http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864p.pdf It appears $10/hour and a 40 hour work week will get you there. Good luck

Hi Hank i just have some follow up questions regarding this topic..

So my fiance found a work already that pays him $12 an hour. Will the paystubs for 2 and 1/2 weeks will be enough to satisfy the US embassy? Also does an email copy of paystubs and verification of employment will be good or do I need an original copy?

Thanks so much

An employer letter stating his annual salary and that he is a full time employee plus his current pay stubs may be fine, but I don't know if the embassy will want to see more pay stubs. Copy emailed to you are fine for the pay stubs, but I don't know in your situation if they may want the original for the employer letter, you could try giving them a copy and then if they request an original send it. That is your decision.

Embassy's big concern is they want evidence you will not become a public charge.

we are on the same boat when we applied my visa. My husband didnt make enough. we are allowed to get somebody to co-sponsor unfortunately nobody wants to do it.

letter from employment will not help unless he showed his paystub that shows he meet the income requirements.

I've waited until he met the income requrement and submit his paystub @US embassy after 2 weeks my visa is on my hand

you have one year to submit the RFE so hope your fiance make it
