Photographs for Canadian documents while in the USA

I'm working on getting my daughter proof of Canadian citizenship and just applied for her US passport as her picture ID along with birth certificate. I was looking at what else I need to send in and they require pictures:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/photospecs-cit.asp

I tried to compare them to the Canadian passport photos but they aren't quite the same. The citizenship photo requirements say they must be at least a certain height/width.

Have you gotten these photos taken in the USA and if so what is a good place to get them? One where they would either know the requirements or be able to take the picture according to the specifics I give them? I know the Canadian government is super picky about photos!

i had to get a replacement Canadian Citizenship Certificate last year. I showed the print-out from the webpage, and when the agent looked at it, they were the same requirements as passport photos. They no longer issue photo ID cards, only a paper certificate, so I don't actually know why they needed the photos.

Here in Northern KY, Walgreens and Walmart were useless for Canadian-style passport photos. We called around and found a photographer who did them for us. She charged us the same as US passport photos, so it didn't cost a lot and I was in & out of there in less than 10 minutes. I think most small, independent photographers will do them for you. Just make sure to have the spec sheet with you just in case!

I don't think I will ever use another person to take passport photos again. I used http://www.idphoto4you.com/ to create the passport photos I needed for my sons. It has Canada as a drop down menu option, then it gives either Passport, Visa, Citizenship, or Permanent resident card for size of photos. What it does it put multiple photos, that you have taken with a white background, on a single 4 by 6 sheet. Then I take it to a one hour photo place to have them print it. In the age of digital, I don't understand why we can't do these forms online and upload photos on line, but maybe some day. Much cheaper 29 cents versus 8 dollars and something. Those one hour photo places don't get any special training anyway.

What name did you put for the on the back? (As it is required by Passport Canada... Name of photographer)

Otherwise, for USCIS I did exactly like you, just on my own. 6 pictures by sheet, cost less than 50¢ for more pictures than I needed :)
