Hi, me and my fiancee have received the letter from the consulate telling us they are ready to proccess our petition. My question is, I read that I have to have all my police records and I am currently living in Mexico, but I have lived in the US for more than 7 years as well. I read online that present and former US residents do not need their records but I want to make sure I am correctly informed. Will I or will I not, need both police certificates from Mexico AND the US?

I am running into that problem and I have scheduled the interview appointment!! U.S. Consulate General instructions appear different in English than in Spanish. In English they want Police Certificates. In Spanish it tells you Police certificates, and if convicted than also a judicial certificate describing each offense.

My appointment is in less three weeks. I need this fast too.

Okay well that's great news! I have not gotten my certificates from Mexico, but I heard you have to get them from the PGR but I am not sure. I will research this and post an answer as to how to get them on Monday. I am just glad I will not need my certificates from the US. Not because I have records, but because I did not know how to get them! Thanks Zack<3Katiuska!

Lol, I am not Mexican....I am Venezuelan as you can see on my profile and on the flag! But at the embassy where my interview will be held.that is one of the documents i need to bring (Police Certificates) from all the countries where i lived for more than 6-12 months... In my case,...I was born in Venezuela but raised in the U.S since i was a little girl..i also lived in Canada for 3 years...(at the age 10-13 years old) but since i was underage i wont be needing police certificates from Canada. As it states, for U.S you won't be needing your Police Certificate neither will I.

When going through my interview Checklist for when i will be receiving my NOA2..it states that i will needing Police Certificates of all the countries that i lived for more than 6-12 months...I repeat i was born in Venezuela but since i was a little girl i was raised in the U.S, At the age of 10 i then moved to Canada(where i stayed 3 years), then i moved back to U.S.A,..until i was about 17 years of age.

I won't be needing police certificates from Canada because i was underage, on the list and requirements it states that I WON'T BE NEEDING my police certificates from U.S.A! I don't think you guys will either!but you will be needing your police certificates, military certificates if applies, from MEXICO!!! I asked for mine at el MINISTERIO DEL PODER POPULAR PARA RELACIONES INTERIORES Y JUSTICIA...btw Monday i will be picking mine up...

In your case you can also obtain a police certificate over the internet....for more information click on this link:

The US doesn't do police certificates. The background check will take care of that.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Arroyo and someone else, you guys need to the Procuraduria General de Justicia del Estado de XXX for example Jalisco, Insituto Jalicience de Ciencias Forences or IJCF, requested and in some states take only hours on others days.

I will recommend to be at Juarez at least 3 days before your interview at the consulate, one day for the medical exam, another for ASC and the other one just in case your medical records are not given the same day.
