Hi there!

I am craving for kare-kare but I want to have a shrimp paste with it.

1. Aside from amazon or online stores, where else can I go for it in St. Paul MN?

2. Do you know any Filipino grocery store where I could go to?

3. What do they have available if you could remember?

Thanks in advance!

Its still there, its named Phil Oriental Imports. It also serves the African food market to a degree, as many have moved into the neighborhood.

Location is 789 University Av West, ST Paul.

651-292-1325 is the phone number.

There's also a number of very large Asian grocery stores in the neighborhood for picking up veggies, fruits and meats not common in a typical American grocery store.

My wife is waiting for me to take her on a trip back home to run away  Or at least that's what she tells me.

There's a lot of Fil-am couples in the twin cities. Granted not all the relationships work out, but it still seems to run better odds than Am-Am marriages do. My wife is a stubborn, over emotional and sometimes pain in the butt Filipina. But I still love her to death

Hahahaha that's funny as if i heard my husband saying that. lol, When do you guys plan to go home? I am really new here so we might not be going home really soon. I haven't seen any Filipino here too :(.. That is the most important! You are loved no matter what. hehe.. Me and your wife are lucky to have found who loves us despite our shortcomings. lol, My husband just eat Fil dishes now since I don't know how to cook your food yet. hehe

We're planning a visit back next year. Then the plan is to work on a baby. She came in 2011, so it will be about 4 years before returning there. It will be 5 years for me, and I really miss the place. I used to go every year, but I lived a lot cheaper lifestyle before my wife got here, so it was easier to save up the money.

I also eat almost all Filipino food now. I developed the taste for it on my many trips to the Philippines.

Have your husband let you hang out at a local mall. You'll start running into other Filipinas. You're way on the southern side of town, we're on the northern end. My wife started making filipina friends just by running into them in the malls. Be careful though, as some might want to drag you into a lifestyle that isn't compatible with you and your husband's lifestyle. The divorced filipina crowd seems to love to recruit newcomers to Minnesota.

Wow! It's been a while! That's good that you like Fil food. I told my husband that maybe the reason that I have not been homesick yet is because he let me have fil food. We haven't been really in the mall since we are both home buddies hehehe, But I will tell him about it. Thanks for the warning. We will def be careful. :)
