Please help. Problem with my name.

Suppose if my name is Jane Doe, my passport says, jane doe in given name. surname is left blank. All documents from NVC has FNU JANE DOE. So someone told me that now i will face big problm to enter US when iget visa.Also in US, they will give my greencard, social security and all the imporant document will say my name is FNU JANE DOE.

Whos mistake this is.? NVC or the passportsoffice. FNU meas first name unknown? but if you look at passport, surname says blank.so if they go with passport, shouldnt it say my last name is not known.

Anyone faced simlar issues.help me please.how to correct.
