I've been calling NVC for a week - both at early hours and late at night, ALWAYS busy. If I don't call, how will they let me know what my case number and IIN is? By mail?

You have to call back to back. Sometime sit takes a good ten minutes before the line goes through and 35-40 minutes before someone answers. You will probably have to dedicate a hour to calling!

You must be my lucky charm. After reading your response I called 8 times and got through on the 8th time! Now I'm on hold...

Need to see:

1) If they received my case.

2) If they have a case number generated

3) If they have the IIN

I doubt 2 & 3 are ready though...

Don't waste your time calling so soon. You got approved 5/9, so the earliest I would start calling would be early June. It's likely you won't get a case number for another month.

That's what the rep told me. Gent named "Arthur" with an almost Bronx-ish accent told me that it won't be at least until Mid July would I get a case number and IIN.

That's TWO FRAKKING MONTHS! He also said they have not received the case yet, probably won't get it until mid June, which is ridiculous.

Have you called the USCIS to see if they've actually sent the case to the NVC? I would not trust any post decision status as to the actual date it's been sent.

In short, the average timeline:

1-3 weeks to get case from USCIS to being logged as received by the NVC

4-5 weeks from NVC Received to get a Case Number assigned

So mid July sounds about right, unfortunately.

By the way, I always call NVC at precisely 7:00 am eastern time. I get through the first try at that time, though would still wait on hold for 30 minutes or so.

31-MAR-2014 Petition approved

16-APR-2014 Case shipped to NVC

29-APR-2014 Case received by NVC

23-MAY-2014 Case # assigned

The NVC does not send confirmation of K1 being sent onto the consulate. (Montreal and Vancouver are consulates, not embassies.)

I called 20 times in a row and got through with a 25 minutes wait time!

Good news:

Our I129F got sent to the NVC on April 29, 2014

The NVC sent it to the embassy on May 15th

They did not send us any confirmation letter of this

Do u think its foolish to just email nvc and ask them if they already assign us a case number instead of calling them ? I'm thinking about sending them an email about it once 30 days had passed since I got my noa2...

takes them 30 days sometimes to answer the emails...

NLR - The NOA we got states to expect a notification letter from the NVC when they send the information to the consulate....
