I posted the same question in the "Yes you can visit during CR1" thread, but was wondering if anyone has ever attempted to visit with NOA2 (approval) and visiting while awaiting the 60-90 days prior to the interview at the consulate?

My wife has a valid visitor visa for 5 years and she has visited while the CR1 was in process at USCIS. We did get hassled a bit at POE but they let us through.

I'd be curious to know as well. Has anyone traveled during this step without getting hassled? I know it's their job to look out for people who are trying to sneak in but our experience made me uncomfortable...

My hubby came to visit me here in Las Vegas during the USCIS stage, but he had a layover in Minneapolis which is where he had to go through customs and they gave him such a hard time. He brought all of our documentation with our USCIS case number to show them we were going about it the right way and they drilled him with tons of questions and harassed him to the point where he got so nervous. He wasn't expecting this because every other time through customs he had been just fine. I filled out most of the paperwork so my husband couldn't remember what kind of visa we had applied for (CR1) and the guy interviewing him wouldn't accept that. They were going to send him back to England until they got a hold of me on my cellphone at work. I had to answer 10+ questions and explain that my husband is awful with paperwork (lol) so I've been doing it all! The guy interviewing was so rude, I was shaking. He was questioning everything I was saying, and I thought I was going to cry, but ultimately, he said something like, "thank you ma'am your answers match Daniel's, I'll let him through." Thank God he gave him a break and let him through but I wasn't aware we had to answer questions just for a vacation, jeez.. It was like a mini interview, I'd be interested to know if other people go through this as well?

We are now scared to have my hubby fly during the NVC stage, and I can't travel because of my work schedule and I don't have much time off.

Well we're going to Guam for our honeymoon, and I actually called the USCIS officer there. He said it's OK for a visit as long as we bring the NOA2 and return ticket copy. Not sure about actually visiting for a few months at a time on the mainland though.
