So my brother-in-law called. They kept our son's passport and gave him an address for us to mail the original marriage certificate. They told him that they don't have to go back for another appointment. When the receive they original marriage certificate, and after they have reviewed it, they will send it and the passport to DHL. I am so pissed off! I am yet to find a place where it says that original marriage certificate of the step-parent to the birth parent is required for an IR2 visa. And if they wanted it, why wait until the day before a holiday to ask for it! So the person who asked if they need the marriage certificate, I guess have an original one handy when you get to the embassy. Another thing I am confused about is that my brother-in-law stated that you are no longer required, at least in Kingston, to pay for DHL to deliver the package. The fee is now included in the amount sent to NVC? Has anyone heard this before? I am so disappointed. My husband's case took over 2 years. I just hope that our son will not miss the beginning of the school year here.

But it sounds like you got approved and that as soon as they have the certificate on file, they will send the visa. I'm sure you'll make the school year. I say congrats! Btw, did they ask your son any questions?

So annoyed!!!

I see I don't know how to include "quote" in my post... Trying again...

Our son's case is in AP. I didn't even know, until today, that you can check the status of your case online. Thank God for visajourney. I am a little frustrated. Why would a child's case be in AP after the immigration officer has reviewed the case, interviewed the child, and stated that everything is in order? Sometimes I feel like they delay people's approval just because they can.

Wendy, they did ask our son questions. They asked his name, who filed for him, our names, where he's going to live, and what grade is he in. He said the officer joked with him saying that he was going to become a cowboy. It sounds like, from what our son and my brother-in-law said, it went smoothly.
