I am new to this website so please forgive me if this has been asked already (although I did search and couldn't find the answer).

My wife just passed her interview for Citizenship yesterday (YEAH!) and we're just waiting now to get the details for her naturalization ceremony. In the mean time, we are trying to prepare everything so that she will be able to petition her parents to come live with us as soon as she is sworn in.

My question is regarding the evidence that USCIS requires us to file with the I-130 forms. Their website (here) as well as Visa Jouney's petitioning procedures (here) say that we need to file EITHER the Certificate of Naturalization OR the Passport. But the instructions for form I-130 (here under the "What Documents Do You Need to Show That You Are a U.S. Citizen?" section) list BOTH the Certificate of Naturalization AND the Passport.

I called the USCIS hotline and the person I spoke with couldn't answer the question as to whether we need to file BOTH or just ONE, although she said usually the instructions are most up-to-date. She recommended I make an infopass appointment and go to my local USCIS office to get a definitive answer, which I was planning on doing until I thought to ask everyone here.

Any help you can give in resolving this confusion would be greatly appreciated!

Just one proof of citizenship will suffice.

Oh ok, thanks for the responses. I'm glad we won't have to wait for her Passport to file the I-130's :) I know it wouldn't take long to come, but anything that speeds up the process is good, right?

The Instructions for Form I-130 are just misleading I guess. Thanks again!
