Claim of US citizenship - health insurance marketplace

First and foremost, I know to never to claim to be a US citizen.

Now, the health insurance marketplace (Obamacare) doofuses keep sending me requests asking for proof of my US citizenship. I have the original application where it asked if I am a citizen, I answered no, and then it has my I-94 number as one of the documents I entered the info on.

Once we finished the application and enrolled, it asked for supporting documents such as our income info, and proof of my husband's, and MY US citizenship. We sent them a pile of papers in, including my UK passport, I-94, K-1 visa page, and NOA1 for my AOS. I also wrote them a letter explaining I am NOT a US citizen and my status.

So today, we get another letter from them saying thank you for reporting a change in circumstances (we never did, we just sent them what they asked for when we enrolled). Again it asks for our income information, and once again, proof of my US citizenship. I have also called these people numerous times (long story), for half an hour a time, to check if they ever received our initial packet of documents because they never knew and it seems these people don't know their ####### from their elbow.

So next week we're going to send them yet ANOTHER bunch of papers, with the same things, also this time including my EAD and a photocopy of our original application where it says my name, and asks US citizen, and we clearly put NO. Then highlight it.

Anyone think this'll cause any issues down the line? We clearly have the original application where we put no, it's just them not reading what we tell them over.. and over.. and over again.

Sounds to me like you may be required to be a US citizen/PR to receive any health care benefit. I never looked into the regulation so don't know much about what qualifications need to be met, but your post piqued my interest.

Given a US citizen qualifies for Obamacare - does his/her dependents automatically qualify even if they are not US citizens/PRs?

That may even be a two part question between USC and PR.

You don't need to be a citizen or even a LPR to qualify for Obamacare, you need only to be in the country legally. Only illegals do not qualify. It asks you your immigration status when you apply, and has a list of documents you can supply. As we did this early on, all I had at the time was my I-94, and I entered my I-94 number in and it accepted it. We sent in my NOA1 and now we will send my EAD as well.

Your above question is answered directly on healthcare.gov where it states who qualifies. Basically all legal immigrants.

My question was, will it be a problem that it keeps asking for proof I am a citizen, even though nowhere, anywhere, have I ever claimed to be a USC and we have the original application printed out to prove it.
